After reading Daniel's blog, does anyone know what friend of his is owed money?????
-
Link please?
-
The names appear to be anagrams, one of which is Ram Vaswani. I don't know who Clark Badmin is supposed to be.
-
Ivey hussled Ram and someone else in golf and they don't want to pay Ivey now.
It happened at the Aussie Millions. -
someone got hustled like when snipes hustled woody, oh shit that's fucked up. where's the honesty?
-
once again Daniel sticking his nose where it doesn't belong and making enemies. He seems to get one in once a week.
-
Daniel goes into more detail about the whole situation and why he blogged about it at this link:
http://www.fullcontactpoker.com/poke...6153&st=20 -
i think he just publicly came out in that blog
"So while this situation is extremely ugly, the situation between Patrick and I was rather tame. He took me to dinner, wined and dined me, gave me his coat when I was cold, and complemented me on my attire" -
I really hope everything gets blown out of proportion and this becomes huge. I'm a big fan of arguments. Really big fan.
-
then you should read Daniel's blog, I think he has a quota or something. Its not his fight, he should stay out of it. I suppose he needs to get people to FCP though and spamming is out of the question. Oops, wait, maybe it is.
-
Based on every photo that I've ever seen, it looks like Daniel gets hustled at Supercuts about once a month.
GG $9 (or $12.73 when he is in Canada) -
OK, I've read all these blogs, and I think I've got a pretty good feel for what happened here (anyone who has ever played for money on a golf course, pool hall, dart board, etc., has seen this movie before).
I don't know if Ivey has played Lindgren since he spent three months in private lessons. If not, then Phil was probably being truthful, but deceptive, in answering that yes, Erick still gives him 10 strokes (omitting a fairly important point about being a much better player now than he was then). If yes, then Ivey lied. Either way, in my opinion, the timeline of when Ivey and Lindgren last played is fairly irrelevant.
Vaswani and Goodwin should have known after about three holes that Ivey's swing was much better than that of a 15-20 handicap golfer, and that there was no way they could handle as much as they were giving. At that point, you call off the bet and re-negotiate. Period. I've done that on several occasions when I realized I'd been hustled at a pool table...you can tell right away by a guy's stroke, no matter what he tries to hide, whether or not he can play. If you're too fucking stubborn, or too fucking stupid, to realize that you're taking far and away the worst of it, you deserve what you get. That's the best definition of a "sucker" I can think of.
In my world, what Ivey did isn't cheating...it's hustling. Happens every day on every golf course, pool room, dart board, etc. I would have assumed that Ram Vaswani and Marc Goodwin were part of that world too. I guess I was wrong. -
and what does that have to do with Daniel? I guess if you want people to spam for your site you take on little fights like this but it seems rather pointless and likely upsetting to the parties involved.

negreanu is such a mook
-
I couldn't find Goodwin's blog. It'd be interesting to hear what he had to say about it, since apparently he is the first one who let the cat out of the bag and made it public. If this is true, then I don't think there is anything wrong with Negreanu posting this on his blog, especially if it's by request from Phil. DN's blog does have a wide audience, and I think that Phil deserves to have his side of the story heard, and also deserves to be paid his money.
Goodwin's blog anybody? -
there is something to be said for minding your own business sometimes...
-
I am glad he posted this, interesting read. I disagree when people say he should mind his own buisness. This is one of his best friends and to just ignore it would be worse, imo, I am probably wrong though. He said that Phil wanted him to post it on his site because it generates a lot of hits. Plus he can post whatever he wants it's HIS blog. You don't have to read it, although you can have an opinion about it.
-
I suppose that it has nothing directly to do with Daniel, Beanie. But I think Negreanu is sticking up for a general principle and calling out a welsher in public, since keeping it private for three months hasn't remedied the situation. I'm not sure I'd do what he did in his shoes...but I'm not sure I wouldn't either.
-
Very interesting indeed. I am glad Daniel used his blog to post this. I would think twice before betting the players involved.
i made a last longer in a tournament with John Phan, and he welched on the bet. This was the day after, I had lost a previous last longer bet with him.
i say this here, so nobody makes this bet with him in the future.
Our bets were for a mere $1500, and $2k, but still very shady thing to do.
His excuse was that we did not verify the bet the day of the tournament, so he didnt owe it to me. (The bet was made the night before)
Riskky -
I think it's innacurate to compare golf to pool or darts.
I play golf, and gamble on the course. Giving and getting strokes is supoosed to make the match completely EVEN.
Golf is, unlike the other two, a game of honor. Someone who lies about his handicap/golf ability is a sandbagging piece of shit. In golf, you're supposed to trust that when someone tells you how good they are, they are telling the truth. They can have a great day, and play better than their handicap, but they should not be downplaying anything, including how much better they've gotten since the last time you played with them.
To put in in perspective, when you're golfing, you're often 100 yards + away from the people you're gambling with. If Phil Ivey kicks his ball out of the woods to give himself a shot at the green, or fails to count a stroke attempt he made when a tree branch interrupted his backswing, or improves his lie in the rough, is he hustling or is he cheating.
Now, the fact that they kept playing and kept upping the stakes is retarded on their part. The fact that Phil Ivey isn't getting paid is sweet irony. -
Beanie,
Please take up more space on this thread with your courageous, well thought out opinion on this matter. I always love reading your insight! -
quoted from Negreanu on FCP's forums
"As for me doing this for Ivey, he specifically asked me to. He was upset that people were writing lies about him and asked me to blog it since he knows my blog has a wide audience. -
LOL
-
Problem is, if Ivey was working on his game intensely for the past few months, he may still have a rather high handicap but have become a much better golfer. It takes quite a few rounds to lower that handicap considerably. So, I doubt he was lying about his handicap, he's just in a stage that he's always doing way better than his "average" score.
