  1. Michael Jackson was on 60 Minutes a while back, it's actually a bit that Chris Rock makes fun of. Ed Bradley throws up some real softball questions to Jackson, stuff like, "Michael, do you think it's Ok for a 45 year old man to sleep in the same bed as young children? "Michael goes... "YES!"

After listening to an episode of PokerRoad.com that's the first thing that came to my mind when they had this kid on there who's been caught playing multiple accounts, and once being caught... just did it even more. No remorse whatsoever, no genuine I'm sorry, just basically a, "Screw y'all I'm blackballed anyway so I might as well stay gangsta'."

I was really disappointed with the show, as Poker Road is probably the one, most unbiased opportunity for a site to be completely honest about poker issues and not have to sugar coat things. They normally are excellent in that area, but I think they really dropped the ball in this interview and let this kid off the hook by being, way, way, too nice.

Let me start by saying this: I don't know the kid. He may grow up someday and be an upstanding citizen, but he SHOULD have a lot of work to do in order to earn any kind of acceptance in the poker world. His banat both FTP and pokerstars are totally just.

You see, this isn't a kid who got caught cheating, realized it was wrong, apologized, and then turned a new leaf. No, this kid went balls to the wall and did it even more. He said that in the interview. To be capable of that, you couldn't possibly care about "doing the rightthing." You couldn't possibly have legitimate remorse for what you did.

Again, I don't know the kid, but my instincts just from listening tohim actually speak about the issue is that he is a liar that still hasno idea what he is going to do about what he's done.

Bart Hanson was asking him questions like, "So was it cooler to win with an account in your name or an undisclosed name? "He'd start questions with, "I don't mean to put you on the spot, but.." Why not? Why not put him on the spot, that's exactly what you should be doing Bart! I felt like they tiptoed around this kid like he was some poor, innocent victim.

Questions should have been more direct, a la, "What is wrong with you? You cheat, get caught, give the poker world a lame apology, only to go right back at it and keep cheating? Why should anyone believe you are suddenly reformed? Why should live poker events even allow you toplay?" Those are tougher questions posed in such a way that isn't all mushy. The tone from all of the guys was just way too apologetic to this kid.

I'm not going to slam the boys at Poker Road anymore. I like the showand think it's great for poker, just being objective here when I saythat I wish they would have manned up a little bit in this case.

At the end of this interview, this kid essentially ADMITS that he can'tmake any promises that he won't cheat again..next month! He has alifetime ban from FTP and PokerStars but flat out said that he can't promise he won't be playing there in a month or two? Are you kidding me? This guy needs to hire Michael Irvin's PR agent.

Comparing this kid to Justin Bonomo is akin to comparing apples and oranges. Justin was also caught some time ago. Since then, he actuallymade a very genuine apology, understands now that what he did wasn'tcool, and has been accepted by the poker community as a stand up guy. He has a completely clean slate with me.

Bart called JJProdigy a "stand up guy" for coming on the show and I waslike, huh? Man, so if OJ came on your show and said I probably killedher, but I don't think I'm going to be doing that sort of thing anymore... would he be considered a stand up guy too?

Gavin said in the end that he had nothing to gain by being on the show, that's completely false! He could have, instead of sounding like he didn't really care all that much, instead of trying to justify why he cheated more, he could have been genuinely remorseful and apologized in a way that's even remotely believable. If you truly aren't remorseful, though, I guess that's difficult.

Truth is, you listen to that interview and you are left thinking, "This kid only feels bad because he got caught." TWICE!!!

As I said, I don't know him. All I have to go on are his written words and his appearance on that show. Based on those things, I can be left with no other opinion then this kid is a liar, a cheater, and that his behavior is very unlikely to change.

I don't even know the kid, so I don't hate the kid at all. I have no real personal feelings about him one way or the other, but c'mon, kid needs to realize that he's not going to get off Scot free with interviews like that.

It is a real shame that the poker world hasn't advanced enough so thatwe can keep a kid like that from playing in live events. It's a shame that we can't keep him from playing online. It's a shame that there are no concrete penalties for what he did.

  2. Daniel is an idiot. If poker needs one thing it's to clean up it's act and secuity to sites and disallow MINORS from playing this game. He was underage he forgets and when your underage nothing seems to bother you whether its doing the capcom code or stealing $50 from your mums purse.
  3. Why is he an idiot? everything he said is true.

  4. I think this post is important...

JJ clearly has a love for poker (despite him doing everything he could to disrespect the game)...so i think that having one of the legends of the game condem him will sting a little bit

Raymer insulting him is one thing..he seems pretty outspoken on his views and is not really part of the poker elites..Daniel is def in the top tier and one of the faces of the game of poker
  5. There's a lot of other people cheating online poker too.
  6. ur an idiot carn..ur acting like when ur 15/16 that ur completly naive and clueless...he knew what he was doing..
  7. There's been 10,000 posts condemning him, I'm sure he understands that people think what he did was wrong, I doubt Daniel's blog will make much more of an impact than the 50 100+ post threads about him.
  8. but 1 more couldnt hurt
  9. lol @ calling daniel an idiot

  10. I wonder if he knows the kid?
  11. "As I said, I don't know him."
  12. sarcasm, it's a tricky thing sometimes.... especially in PD.
  13. Donor i understand that you like many, many, many people in the poker community have a strong dislike for JJprodigy, but what you have to understand about the pokerroad interview is that JJ voluntarily went on the show. If the hosts started laying into him like everyone else does that he could just say the hell with it, rip off his headset and walk out. I think that it is important to make your guests feel comfortable on a show like this so that you can get decent material out of it. If you start off by ripping his head off JJ would just become defensive and that would amount to a pretty short and awkward show. I have read other threads by people bashing the entire pokerroad crew, but i do not think you can blame them for JJ's "lack or remorse" I really like listening to pokerroad and enjoyed the show with JJ as a guest. Noone forced him to be on the show nor was he compensated for it. I think it takes some guts to appear on a show where the majority of the listeners have already passed judgement on the guy and hate him. And for the point of him saying he cannot promise that he wont be playing on FTP and stars in the future, well that just seems like an honest answer to me. Would you people rather have him lie about it?
  14. Who cares if he leaves the interview? At least that would make it interesting. And it doesnt take guts to sit on a show that is just going to ask you if you would rather win a tourney on your known name or an alias. I dont give a flying fck how good at poker JJ is. He is an arrogant POS that should never get the opportunity to play poker again.

  15. that must make it ok then jtown
  16. Kid just wants credit/hype for what he does.

Unban him and let him play under his own alias but keep a close watch on him.

This way he isn't forced to go underground and the poker community as a whole can keep an eye on him.

  17. lol
  18. so daniel does know him?
  19. DN spot on in this article. 100% truth being told. Great points.
  20. And give theives and bank robbers tons of money and let them out of jail so they don't have to steal anymore. That'll teach em!
  21. So be it im an idiot but Online poker hasn't gotten that far down the stick in regulating minors gambling illegally which DN site should be pretty much hit with a stick for. It's their fault for not having up to date or measurements preventing any cheating happening just like AP allowing Super users to play on the site makes you think what JJ did naive clueless or just smart :)
  22. i agree with daniel but appart from:

I felt like they tiptoed around this kid like he was some poor, innocent victim.

hes a 18 kid remember i think you have to be gentle.

On another note, i know he was considering playing the PCA a month ago because he was just turning 18 or whatever....... emm wait there how has he got like 8k to play the PCA anyway if hes just turning 18? delivering newspapers ?
  23. who Jtown.. got some names.. cuz if you do you should spill it. otherwise gtfo
  24. daniel gave the lil prick what he deserves

FUCKING CHEATER EAT SHIT AND DIE

and the part that kills me is he openly admits he is gonna be playing again online real soon lynch that lil bitch
  25. "On another note, i know he was considering playing the PCA a month ago because he was just turning 18 or whatever....... emm wait there how has he got like 8k to play the PCA anyway if hes just turning 18? delivering newspapers ?"

Welcome to p5s dude...btw, I believe this kid 'delivered newspapers' at a prodigious rate and could somehow come up with the entry fee. At least so he could take a shot way outside of his bankroll at a live event he has a feeling about doing well in.
  26. Its funny that there are people here that want take JJ's back when Daniel just made a pretty spot on observation.
  27. the publicity this kid has recieved is crazy.... just like all scandals, whether political, sports, poker, and/or whatever else, they are always brought to the headlines....... with that being said, daniel is 100% correct on this matter.... JJ has not had nothing but maybe his hand slapped, and primarily his dick sucked.....
this kid should be turned into a martyr regarding cheating in online poker.... the excuse that "he's 18 and has a lot to learn" is ignorant, immature bullshit in its own right.... tell a kid in Iraq who's 18 that they have a lot to learn in life and see how they respond....... and no, i'm not insinuating that he's killed for christ sake (no pun intended).... BUT I think others, people close to him (or close enough) should be offered rewards to report what name(s) he is or has used in the past, and then his accounts completely swept clean and money donated to charity.... the kid lives and breathes amongst scumbags already, and im sure some of these close allies are willing to blow him outta the water if the reward is right....

  28. This has to be the sloppiest/ worst/ latest post in history
  29. IMO, Daniel hit a homerun here. That a boy. So many people are willing to give a 2nd, errr, make it 3rd chance to JJ (don't know him from a hole in a ground). Don't understand. I don't think a convicted bank robber could do his time, get out of the big house and then become a bank teller. Kinda similar, no?

Daniel, keep sporting those hockey jerseys and making us Canucks proud.

    ~Heck~
  30. LOL, I don't want to keep making the same posts over and over again, maybe you should google online poker scandals or something, but the cliffnotes would be superusers at AP/UB, LadyMaverick/Stelladora, UB's reaction to superuser allegations etc etc, but people still want to make 5,000 posts a month about JJ after he showed the first bit of remorse from what he's done.

I'm not saying you shouldn't be against Josh or make posts about him or Daniel N. blogging about him, but why is he the only person everyone wants to post about? The UB situation seems a lot more serious to me than some 18 year old kid multi-accounting some MTT's and maybe winning a 5,000 person donkament every 12 months.
