Although a bit off topic from the normal hand discussion, I felt i must comment on the most recent week of Poker after dark cash game whereby Cardrunners boys Taylor (greenplastic) Caby, Cole (cts) South and David (raptor) Benefield took on Doyle, Eli Elezra and Gabe Kaplan.
For those who missed it it was 200/400 NLHE with a regular 800 and often 1600 straddle.
I felt i must comment on how well the cardrunners boys represent internet poker and show that the young, intelligent poker minds are also very pleasent people who can and do get on with and respect some of the games most respected players. On numerous occasions in the past when watching succesful internet players or relatively succesful internet players playing the game both in casinos and on tv i have seen a divide not only in sociability but also in the way they conduct themselves tableside. The boys made me proud to be supporting internet poker players over Tv live players and was happy when raptor took many pots. I hope this continues throughout the week and that taylor and cole both come unstuck. -
i watched this the other night. i thought they did a good job also cole did seem really nervous tho but im sure I woulda been even worse.

Raptor plays the game like you are supposed too imho! JQ
-
Yeah I like the way David Benefield comes off to. You can tell he has the most live experience out of the 3.
-
Raptors call down with KQ vs Gabe is sickk
-
anyone have a link? pleasethanks
-
Wow, these 3 "kids" really represent very well. I have heard of all 3 b4, but never seen them live. They obviously have sick poker skills, but I am more impressed with their behavior and social skills. A+ for Card Runners!!!

he said that the only hand within doyles range that he could beat was KJ so prob boat maybe kings full or rivered jacks full. despite result was good laydown but even better bet by doyle! even if he was just gettin value from AK it looked great

CTS definitely game out looking the best from what I saw, especially in terms of his reasoning on the pots he played in the recap last night. Cole didn't play any huge pots, but I just came out liking his game/understanding of the table much better than the others.
I feel like Benefield definitely has the most potential to be a "best ever" type if those big pots go his way more often than they don't. This week was kind of ambivalent though, because he had one pot (the Kaplan KQ) that went very well and he made a great read on and another (the 65 Doyle one) where he didn't peg Doyle's misread despite the fact that his flop lead was designed to cause it. He also didn't really want to talk about why he did some of the things he did other than in the 65 hand.
Caby really needed to play more hands, but I came out with generally positive impressions from the little I saw.
The three established pros were not well picked. Eli was a good idea, but Doyle is definitely showing his age and set play style and I can't get the whole Kotter-Kaplan thing out of my head. There were definitely better pros for this (Negreanu specifically would have been very interesting).
Overall, a great show and I will definitely be using my FTP player points for a subscription to Cardrunners. I would not mind more cash games from PAD, because their tourney structure is still a big joke in the late stages. -
I imagine, in today's TV/business environment, if you purchase as much advertising time on the show as does DoylesRoom, you are amenable to Mr. Brunson's participation.

Ummm Doyle's bet was retarded IMHO. Nice value bet there sir!

Little surprised Benefield folded there since his hand was so well disguised. That may be a case where the "aura" of Doyle caused Raptor to think he wouldn't make that retarded of a play. -
Not to sound cocky, but i think i would be +EV in a 6 handed game that featured Doyle, ELi, and Gabe. And i am like an average low stakes part timer. Eli is mega spew, Doyle doesnt know what hes doing half the time, and Gabe seems like the easiest to trap player ever. Flame away.
-
I actually thought Gabe acquitted himself the best of the three vets. Not that he was stellar just the other 2 seemed really bad. Eli is mega spew 4 sure. His positional play is atrocious and seems more interested in winning with some lagtard hand than playing good poker (see HSP) Doyle sets up these retarded river bluff raises that make no sense at all or value bets with the 10th nuts on the river. Gabe seemed to be moving chips around and played reasonably well from what I recall.
