Next week's Podcast will feature an interview with former #1 Chris Savage.
Chris has been around the online tournament scene since the inception of PocketFives.com, and was the first online tournament player to be ranked #1 on this site. Much of our interview will focus on how the game has evolved, and Chris' opinions on the younger players who have dominated for over a year.
To submit a question for Chris "brsavage" Savage, please post in this thread. You may also send an email to podcast@pocketfives.com before Wednesday night.
* PocketFiver "SCTrojans" was unable to interview this week due to WSOP commitments, and has agreed to be a guest on the show in the near future. -
What is the Secret to maintaining a happy family life and sucessful professional life with the volume of mtt's you seem to be able to play?
-
Your name is a reference to your favorite character Braveheart? He was a savage in a few scenes.
-
Agreed, Mr. Blonde!!!! Thanks, Chris!
-
for BRsavage thank you from the OT we are trying for you thanks for being who you are
-
Ask br why he is such a badass, and how he backed 9 horses in this weeks sunday million......
-
two part question... Do you think that todays up and comers play too eratically or do you just think that they play aggressively early to gain a chip advantage?
second part of my question is do either of you have a prodigy? Someone whos play you watch , and basically coach.
I also have a third question. Who do you like to watch play, either live or online? -
BR - what motivates you to continually (it seems) to stake players you may not know personally?
SCTrojans - how does someone go from playing BillMueller in 27 dollar turbos regularly to pwning big time MTTs? -
BR: You are far and away one of my favorite online players. Pure class. What qualities do you feel are most important for a person to have in order to be a long term winning player at this game?
-
Chris, you've been around long enough to see a lot of changes in online poker. Compare and contrast the game five years ago to what it is now. How have playing styles changed? What changes have you made in your game to remain a profitable player against what is widely considered a more talented crowd?
--KingPariah -
Mr. BR longtime listener, first time caller. First off you should be commended with your generosity towards the OT section of the community(the glue that holds this place together). Secondly which OT'er would you pick to be your tag team partner if you were signed to fight one cage match in the WWE?
TY can't wait to hear the answer on the air.
At least just say hello to myself and OT on the thing. -
MrSavage pwns at life.
Thanks man, please continue your pwning ways.
p.s. On a scale from 1 to 10, with 10 being the gayest, How gay is YourTimeIsUp? -
chris,
i recently read a sort of controverisal thread in which you played a big pot against mr. menlo with 22, and basically went on to say how you "had a read and stuck with it"
how important are "reads" in online poker and what are some simple examples of some typical online tells -
BR,
Do you think in late game situations, in order to go for the win, that you have to go with a more narrow range that you put opponents on, and stick with it right or wrong? For example, you may put a specific player on the top 20% of hands at some point in the middle of a tourney, and play versus that range...but much later, and closer to the final table, you put that same player on a few specific hands. -
Chris.....beef or chicken??
-
BR- Congrats on all of your success.
Poker, for me, has been a series of plateaus. Study, increase knowledge, experiment, etc. and raise your game to next plateau. Stay on plateau for a while.
Outside of the obvious things like reading poker books, training sites, etc., any suggestions on how to break through the next plateau (whatever plateau one might be on at the moment) in order to become a top player.
As a husband, father and one who works full time and wants balance in my life, my playing time is limited to evenings after my son is asleep. I am probably typical of most players that really want to keep getting better, but aren't always sure what to focus on.
Thanks,
rizniles -
There are a lot of really good questions... I will definitely try to address a byunch of them in the podcast. we are scheduled to record Wednesday night.
Thx,
Chris. -
Chris,
a/s/l? -
Two questions Chris.
(1) As a master of the sattelite tourneys, do you change anything strategically at a final table where top two get seats (WSOP, Aruba etc) and the other eight get nothing vs. a normal MTT final table (i.e. you've already made money but good money in top 3 spots)?
(2) How did you build a bankroll in the very beginning?
Many thanks to Chris for "teaching" me poker. (By that I mean railling him over at UB).
--Adam -
BR: You have a full-time job outside of poker. As someone still trying to find the balance, how do you do it? What type of schedule have you set for yourself, and more importantly, for your family? Thanks. Best of luck in the future.
