  1. forgive me for asking what i'm sure is a dumb question, but I can't really figure it out...

I've read a few times now that the NFL is one of the primary special interest groups behind the latest last minute pushing of the UIGEA. can someone explain to me how the NFL stands to benefit from the passing of this garbage legislation?
  2. That's interesting..........I guess they see less sports wagering on the NFL games due to online gambling. There's only so much money to go around. Makes wonder about the legitimacy of the games and outcome. Hmmmmm........
  3. The NFL 1) Does not want competetion on fantasy games that must pay the NFL royalties for the use of names/stats/etc 2) Does not want easy access to sports betting because the don't want a betting scandal

"The NFL's general counsel, Jeffrey Pash, urged lawmakers in March to "support the integrity of American athletics" by rejecting Frank's bill or any other alternative to the existing legislation. But Internet gambling officials have long maintained that the NFL's real motivation is to block any competition for lucrative "fantasy football" gambling via the Internet, which was explicitly exempted from the 2006 ban."

  6. thx. good explanation. i guess i didnt realize how profitable an industy fantasy sports is, although its pretty obv a huge market. I wonder who else is behind the UIGEA, besides religious fanatics and B&M casinos...
