wow this is great. Gabe Kaplan is not funny and is horrible at poker. Norm probably sucks at poker but who fucking cares he's Norm MacDonald the funniest person in the world.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ORgRY...2F27EC15836824 could watch all these clips all day.
and Kara Scott mmmmm.

Norm is so funny! If you havent seen any of his appearances on dennis miller show do yourself a favor and youtube them.

I love Norm as much as everyone else in this thread, but does he know enough about poker to carry this show all by himself? It seems like he would be much better as a color guy. I mean even if Norm is clueless about poker, he will still be better than a lot of poker commentators because at least he will be funny, but I think Norm would do a lot better with a play by play guy to call the action and Norm can just insert a bunch of random funny stuff.

personally not a fan of this at all. This will be a trainwreck

That liine up looks shit w/o any FTP players. Gonna miss Dwan taking all of Negreanus money.
-
i dunno ab this. has anyone ever seen him on the daily show? he was spouting random nonsense/knock knock jokes. also jon stewart was trying to wrap it up and he wouldnt shut up.

The voice of "death" is now the voice of HSP...

Norm would be great for this...in a Norman Chad role. Otherwise I think this is a potential disaster.
Norm is a really funny guy (to me) but a big time acquired taste. Ask his bosses at NBC. I simply cannot envision Norm calling action or telling jokes to himself. Also, Norm is more of a degen gambler than a polished poker guy and I really worry about him in a room, by himself, describing the thought process of players who are making world class plays every hand. I mean even Gabe suffered in this role when left alone and Gabe has 30 years of big time poker experience and decades of television work in the field. It is a really tough spot.
It is only a poker show but everyone really feels possessive of HSP, including me, because it was the first show that really entertained the secondary and advanced players while still catering to a general audience. With this latest development I assume the show will be a trainwreck unless Norm is partnered up with someone who "gets" him or really, really knows poker. Oh well, HSP was basically dead a few years ago and we instead got some amazing seasons. Also, trainwrecks are sometimes fun to watch. :) -
LOL. The last roast he was on he did this character where he just played oblivious. Think it was hasselhof. Unfortunately, what he was doing was brilliant comedy (to professional comics) but really totally alternative and not funny to 99% of the people that didn't know what he was doing.

Pretty sure it's him im thinking of. Could be wrong tho. I just remember watching him on a roast and it was worst ever
If he goes that route it'll be a trainwreck. Also this guy really needs a sidekick to play off of. Can't imagine him doing this solo unless he goes a totally different way. -
+1, Norm MacDonald is the nuts. A real comedian's comedian, which really just means that the average joe doesn't find him funny. But to those in the comedy world, absolutely brilliant. :D
But, to be fair, I think people are right to be concerned -- I'm not sure Norm is the best fit to host a poker show, despite being funny as hell. -
norm is a seriously funny man.
-
I love norm. Tho HSP looks like it's going down the toilet.
-
wtf where is dwan, antonius, elezra, etc etc?

his standup was the best i've ever seen and I think he'd make a good replacement as a host. he's a pretty big gambler and plays a lot of poker, i'm also pretty sure he's friends with a lot of guys from 2p2 as well so i think we should at least give him a chance.
-
cant believe it took this long for this to be brought up,,, who cares who the fuck the host is, because there is no FTP pros,,, no dwan, ivey, antonius---those are prolly 3 of the best cash players in the world, and their not playing,,, so long HSP, doubt i'll tune in as religiously as i used to

I believe it was the Bob Saget roast and it was fking hilarious.

I'll probably watch it for Phil Laak. He's hilarious to watch.
-
You didn't get it.. He did that on purpose to be akward. You can't judge someone by a roast that is 100% staged.
