  1. Was watching the 2004 WSOP Main Event today.

Does anyone know why he finds this card the prettiest card in the deck?

In a few 2004 WSOP Episodes he says he'll tell later, but I can't remember him ever mentioning it.
  2. b/c he's on acid
  3. norman leaves u wantin more dont he lol
  4. I hate you
  5. I think he likes it because his boyfriend has a tatoo of it on his lower back.
  6. Because NORMAN CHAD'S 6th wife offered him a BJ on his Ace of Spades.
  7. If you listen to Norm's color-commentary during the 2005 WSOP and TOC, you'll notice vast improvement. I'm confident he'll do a wonderful job at this year's WSOP.

  8. He loves Motorhead's "Ace of Spades"
  9. I hate to defend him, but can you dispute that it is the prettiest card in the deck?

  10. People hate the guy and maybe I'm just a n00b but I find him funny, he always has a sarcastic wiseass remark for EVERYTHING, even people fiddling chips. Makes the time between hands go by really fast.

  11. suicide kings own
  12. I have no answer to your question but I really do hate the ESPN Broadcasting of Poker. Other than the presentation and looks of the show it is pretty bad. Full final tables smashed into a 1 hour show with commentators who seem to know very little to nothing (Lon) at Tournament Poker.

I love watching poker on TV tho so Ill always go back and watch it but these guys are awful and I cant believe they dont get someone better. I think Fox Sports Michael Konik (sp?) and Howard Lederer and Chris Rose (to represent the non degenerate demo) is probably the best.

But I remember hearing an interview about how Norman Chad got that Job and he said basically that he was the only one at ESPN who knew anything about poker so he kind of just was the easy choice (not in those exact words obv lol)

but Yea Down with ESPN Poker!

  13. I agree, but as far as presentation is concerned, I think ESPN wins hands down.

  14. I have to agree ESPN doesn't have great analysis and knowledgeable commentaors, but it is the most entertaining. And No, I don't need someone to tell me that Joe Blow has top pair with backdoor flushes and an inside str8 or the card that just filled up Joe Blows Boat made Jane Blows Nut Flush and it will be hard for her to lay down, I know all of that already. I like the background mini interview stuff, wacky count downs and color commentary, is really fun for me. I think the deep analysis is better for the FTP Invitational where top pros are making great plays left and right IMO.

EDIT: And YES I like the degree all in moment LMAO and Chris Feurgusen you make the calls beer commercials
  15. it's the prettiest card because his 3rd wife had a tatoo of it on her wrist, and now she's dead....... hardy har har2nd wife har divorce har impotence har divorce
  16. Wow DW, you read a funny joke someone wrote, hit REPLY, and copied it but made it 10 times less funny.
  17. The ace of spades has a lot of special significances, i'm sure you can find them on google if you search for it. There's a whole chapter in Big Deal about it, like how company's always print their logo on the Ace of Spades only. You'll notice also in rounders that Worm has a tattoo of it on his forearm, and the last card to come out in the final heads up match against KGB is the ace of spades.
  18. Also last card in Maverick
  19. Comparing the WPT to WSOP presentation i think WSOP is the hands down winner. WPT's self proclaimed goal is to make poker itself the star, not the players. ESPN and the WSOP realize poker is about the people who play it well and the eccentric personalities that go along with the high stakes poker addiction. I think this comes through in the presentation and ESPN captures the emotions at the table better and gets you "in there" so you can understand why people play the way they do. Where as when I watch WPT I feel like i'm watching a bunch of robots half the time. I know a lot of the players are the same but the difference is espn gets the cameras in there amplifys the volume of the players talking and those subtle things make a difference when your watching on tv. When comparing the commentators I think that norman chad has more personality than van patten and sexton combined. Although I like Mike Sexton his voice annoys me at times. The way he pronounces the word "poker" for example. And van pattens comments are repetitive and unimaginative. If I hear "he's dug the hole and is laying the branches and twigs over it" one more time... Thats my $0.02
  20. van patten sucks. chad is funny enough of the time. espn's coverage is so much better than the wpt and the ace of spades rules.
  21. I love it when it shows aaron Kanter having 9 10 and the flop coming K J 3 and it asks hold em or fold em when raymer bets big into him lol.......Then Ferguson says holdem and lo and behold Raymer was bluffing with 6 high.....
  22. I never really noticed it until my brother pointed it out to me, but when Mike Sexton talks he always talks with his hands. EVERY single shot of him on tv talking he is using his hands to emphasize every word lol. Watch tonights episode and tell me if you see what im talking about.
  23. I like Norman Chad. He is pretty funny most of the time, but doesn't know poker nearly as well as he seems to think he does. I think his partner (Lon Whatever) is pretty useless, and an awesome combo would be Chad and a pro like Phil Gordon.
  24. I think the A of spade in the Bicycle deck has the sillouette of a woman or two on it. I'm at work so I can't verify. Based on how Chad emphasizes it, it has to be chick related.

Regarding poker commentators, I think that since college hoops is out of season Dick Vitale would make an awesome replacement. "He's got Kings, BABY!"
  25. "van patten sucks."

His fav line is always "so and so picks up a real hand, WIRED FOURS!" followed by the little graphic explaining what "wired" means. WPT broadcasts suck.
  26. Dick Vitale is easily the most retarded annoying personality in the world. His association with poker could only be bad. He would DEF be a Hellmuth fan and probably work Duke in there somehow. This is the easily worst Idea I have ever heard and you should probably go chastise yourself for even suggesting this. Really the only person I can think of that would be worse is David Oreck (yes the vacuum guy).

    J
  27. I'm still waiting for the day David Huber has something negative to say about another person. Just once, man, COME ON!
  28. And he says that "WIRED FOURS" crap in a low muffled voice like he is actually sitting at the table and doesnt want anyone to hear. Like he is being sneakey or something - so annoyhing.
  29. Worst ever is "Dick" Van patton on the older poker shows....BOOOOOOORRIIIIIIIIIIIIINNNGGGGG.
  30. Sexton is cool. Chad and McCarren(sp?) are fun to listen too. The preview broadcast of the ppt was great but the announcers there sucked. Gabe Kaplan is funny and knows his stuff. VVP really kills any show he 's on. My God he isn't close to being funny and never tells me anything I either didn't know or wanted to know. He really really really is no good.
