  1. I'm not trying to put CC down cos I think he's an awesome player and even more of an awesome dude but having read his report on EPT- doesn't it show how lucky you have to get to win an MTT. I hate to bring up this luck vs skill argument but hearing how many times he sucked out to make it as far as he did makes me once again wonder the luck vs skill factor. % wise to win a big MTT is it as much as 60% luck 40% skill????
  2. It's a well-known fact that you have to get real lucky to win a MTT. I dont think anybody doubts that.

  3. 1 mtt does not a great player make.
  4. The lesson I take from this article and CCs approach to the game in general is that yes it does take a lot of luck to win an individual MTT, and yes it does take a LOT of skill to win over the long term, but the most important thing is to have fun along the way.

It is a game after all, right?

    ; )))
  5. Luck comes in many ways; being lucky might mean winning two or more coinflips during a tournament when you're all in pre-flop, or even getting A's when when another big stack gets K's and not vice versa. Luck doesn't have to be you getting your money in bad and sucking out.. Heck, never being sucked out on the whole tourament for most of your chips is in a way lucky, even if you got your money in as at least 60/40, if you did it many times.
  6. Funny... I was just told this quote today....
"Luck is where opportunity meets preparation"

Luck is a HUGE part of MTTs on a micro level and not nearly as much on a macro level (micro = 1 tourney, macro = 1000). I echo Lenny's sentiments on everything else though, enjoy the ride while you're on it.
  7. as well, its luck to call an utg raise with 3 others having 55 and the button calls on a flop of 45Q utg bets the pot you insta smooth call to have the button shove 70bb's and you have a decision now for 98% of your stack as the utg raiser folds leaving 20bb's behind you decide he's (button) got AQ with a possible flush draw only he tables QQ. How does he have QQ there? anyway, you turn the 5 and weeeeee you go on to FT and win the tourney. if QQ repops the button there you don't win this huge pot with 55 and are still sitting pretty but not near as well as you are when you rake a monster pot versus a co-chipleader.

And alll of this happens on the money bubble!!!!1111
    synopsis, luck is plentiful
