What mistake? Calling a min raise?
-
you nailed it supermoves! and dr. aziz, i really hope you are kidding....
-
Actually, raising with speculative (read: shit) hands (like 10 7, which is not a terrible hand) in EP is not a super bad play. If you listen to some of the more successful players, this is in their arsenel, as EP raises usually mean big hands. And when the guy minraised you, you had pot odds to at least call to see a flop.
So, no, I was not kidding. -
I think az1969 is really onto something. I realize you made a mis-click, but that misses the point that your play was genius if it was intentional. In fact, Sheets spends a whole PXF video explaining that when your M is 5 and you're UTG with an offsuit two-gapper your best play is often to invest 28% of your stack on a min. raise. That way it disguises your hand so when you completely miss the flop and have to check-fold, nobody will know what you had and that's very, very important in 2-table SNGs. Besides, you'll have the button in two more hands afterwards and by then you'll have lots of fold equity.

Am I sensing a hint of sarcasm?
-
hahaha good post pariah i must admit. aziz i do see what you are saying, but not in this spot. i have a shit pile for a chip stack, and there are wayyy too many players after me. and it's T7...try playing that postflop against 2 callers on a shitty minraise. i just got lucky
-
But the point I was making is that most assume you can only steal blinds from LP. Maybe blinds are not big enough to steal from at this point, but unless you told me, I would not automatically assume your min raise UTG was a misclick.
