  1. I was watching the Paradise Oyster tourney for a short while this evening (particularly interested because NSXT was sitting to the right of Bax) and I saw Bax get eliminated by NSXT when his KK ran into AA. If I remember right Bax raised and NSXT smooth called. A third guy re-raised and Bax went all in (with about 10k more chips than NSXT and I think less than the third guy). NSXT calls and the other guy folds. Immediately NSXT types (or enters) "nh." Bax kinda took offense to this a bit at least to the point of questioning why he would type that when he was the one with aces. NSXT tried to explain that he had already typed it intending for it to be toward "the re-raiser." I guess I don't really understand what NSXT means here (maybe I'm slow).

I've always found both Cliff and Todd to be classy guys at the tables so I seriously doubt that anything was meant to tick anyone off. Still, it's hard to understand this. I could be missing something or Todd could have just made a mistake here. Perhaps it will take Todd to explain it if others didn't catch this particular hand.

    Anyway, just curious.

Edit: Just in case the ediitorial police come after me again, I want to change this to mean that NSXT was actually to the left of Bax. I'm sure it could be figured out with my explanation, but for accuracy's sake...
  2. LOL
  3. "I saw Bax get eliminated"
"Bax went all in (with about 10k more chips than NSXT"
"NSXT calls and the other guy folds"

Am I the only one that finds it unfair that bax got eliminated when he had more chips after the all in...so rigged
  4. not that something this silly needs much explanation, but a trick i see Nordberg do all the time is when getting all in before hands turn up, he types 'nh'. It has become a 'joke' of sort for superstitious types that helps your hand hold up. I even saw a guy say to Nord, 'hey, i've been using your nh trick.' So, I typed it, after the 3rd guy reraised us. Then, after the rest of the action, I hit enter before the cards were turned over. It was certainly no slam to Cliff or a wiseguy thing to do.. not really my style unless joking around.

Guess, I was feeling extra supertitious tonight after running my KK into AA twice to fall from 155k chips in Conquest here in Bahamas to go out on the bubble.... Nothing more, nothing less.

  5. geez...and who says bax is lucky?

  6. I can say this having played with NSXT and Bax for years...neither guy ever takes offense to bad beats or ridicules playes when sucked out on. I have seen Bax and NSXT make a "comment" after a brutally bad call that sucked ot but never seen a classless act by either. I know Todd personally, have met Bax and played with him hundreds of times and can honestly say both players have the utmost respect for each others game, person and abilities. There was definitely no bad intentions here trust me. Todd ALWAYS says NH when his raise or allin is called whether the cards speak or not.

Lets not start a riot act over a simple thing. They both own, they both have great results and they both have class.
  7. So, Todd, how does it feel to know that there is a large number peoplethat do nothing but follow you from table to table, online and live, looking for the slightest misplay of a hand or gesture ofunsportsman-like conduct that they can blow out of proportion bypublicly posting anything and everything that you play, do, or say onthis forum?

    Anyway, just curious :)
  8. My bad, it was late. He was eliminated a few hands later when JJ ran into QQ. That's not the point.

So much for asking a serious question to some people...

  9. This looked like a classless thing. I was only inquiring as to get some humor that I might have missed. It wouldn't even have been the tenth worst thing I'd seen that day in the poker rooms, but then NSXT isn't the average player or sportsmen, either.

  10. Thanks Todd. That's all I was wondering. I got in the room just in time to see you talk about KK vs. AA twice. One of these times you'll flop the set and go on to win. ;)

    I wasn't needling anyone -- I was just curious.

  11. There are tons of people who pop into these tournaments when they are nearing the end. I'm no different if I see a leader board like that one last night. There were ranked players all over that thing with 70 left. I didn't come out an accuse Todd of anything, either. I just didn't "get it." I could have asked in the poker room but I had a little more respect for someone who was down to the end of a pretty nice tournament. Would that have been more classy?

Todd, how does it feel to have random people who want to come to your defense as if you aren't smart enough to come on here and explain yourself?

    Anyway, just curious. :)

  12. In other hot news, there is a war in Iraq, Immigrants running wild in the USA and our children getting corrupted at a wild pace.

But yeh, when I heard this legendary confrontation and the edge of your seat details, I cant believe Bax was offended, I felt so bad for him........

Lets all pray Bax has nothing but perfect success and no hardships.. Cause that is what is really important..

Im sorry Bax you felt offended, I was almost in TEARS for you.
  13. Talk about needing "better things to do..."

  14. Keenan, if you wanted to avoid the classless route, why not just PM him and ask about it?

I too was watching that tourney. I frequently check out all the big tournaments to see whats going on and whos doing what.

I dont really think you are trying to purposely bash anyone, my response was a semi-joke. But at the same time, I'm just confused why certain people like Todd get so much heat for so many petty things.
  15. Todd's the first guy I really "followed" to the point of, when I was done playing for the night, checking to see if he was playing anything. He's been nothing but classy throughout. I was simply curious what was to be gained by saying that. I also suspected that there were plenty of other people who would benefit from knowing the explanation because, as I said, I know I'm not the only one who peeks in at this tournaments. Todd half-explained it in the room, but it wasn't very enlightening (heck, no one in this thread could explain it except Todd-- they only could use sarcasm or a general defense of his character, which I pretty much did in the initial post). I chose to post it here mainly because I was curious and I didn't want to bother him "on the job" in an important situation in the tournament.

It was up to Todd if he wanted to explain it, or anyone else to try to add their guess. Funny, but Todd was the only one who had an explanation for it. And even though he said it didn't need to be explained, he still went ahead and explained it, which says something about the impression that those two letters could have given to people. I have seen people say "gl" before the cards are shown, but I've never seen someone at the level of Todd say "nh" and then flip aces. I don't think my question is that far out there. And, because I am not one iota superstitious, I wouldn't even understand that part of it.

I don't feel any worse for Bax than I do anyone else who runs into AA with KK (it happened to Todd twice already that day and I'm happy for him that it didn't happen a third time). Those things happen, but generally either something nice is said or nothing at all when such a hand is over. I think I asked the question in as civil a tone as it could be asked (in general wonderment and hardly accusatory). Why not let Todd explain it, as he did, and move on? Satisfying or not, it was explained as far as Todd was thinking...

    (Thanks again, Todd.)

  16. I like this site because threads are so easy ro read. I dislike this site because there is so rarely anything worth reading!
  17. And because people so often take the time to point out that there is nothing worth reading? Or not?
