off-shore accts...other forms outside US

    This may have already of been diacussed or brought up but i was watching Heat this weekend and it got me thinking. Like in the moves ect... how hard is it to make an offshore bank acct., do u need some sort of citizenship in the country, does it cost alot to open one, can you tranfer that money to your american acct, and is it even possible? i am very un-educated about off shore accts (ex. swiss bank accts, italian bank accts, german bank acc.s) couldn't you just depsoit from that acct, cash out to that acct, and then make the euros, american currencey? just woundering if anyone chould shed some light on this for me...

    Vito - you don't even have to go offshore - your profile says you live in NY, near Syracuse - make a trip up to Niagara falls sometime and go to that branch of RBC (Royal Bank of Canada) - u'd have to sign the forms in person, but you can open a checking acct. that has a free debit card you can use to directly deposit/withdraw from any major site still offering play to Americans...

    I was thinking how many P5ers set up accts. in the Bahamas when they were there.
    I Don't think it's hard to open an acct. but I haven't tried yet. Alot of people do it (off shore accts.) to hide $$$ or they do business in that country.

    i dont think US citizens can open a bank account in canada without having residence there....i do know a lot of americans that have visa/debit accounts in the UK and are getting cash on and off without a problem...by the way if you cash out to debit account it usually takes 24 hours or less as the poker sites transfer direct to your bank account....wire the cash from your US account to your UK account and use the visa/debit card to get it on, cashout direct to your UK account and wire the cash back to the US

    i tink yo may be able to get a PO box in canada and then get a bank account there. I dont' know how hard the PO box is though.

    stepp and sty - just call 'em. They have agents available by phone to respond correctly to the questions that you're sharing bogus information on. I don't mean to sound like a dick when I say it, but that information is easily available and doesn't need to be mistakenly added in to the forums when people are looking for a solution.
