Me and my friend were discussing a hand I was recently in about 2-3 days ago on Full Tilt.
Its a 6 seated .50-1$ table
He(my opp i ended up HU with) was in the blinds, I was in mid post.
I cant remember the flop and the betting that ensued, but the key part of this story is this....
Lets say ur me, U put ur opp on a str8 draw on the flop and a flush draw. U turn ur set of 7s and he checks, it doesnt make the flush, it makes the str8, u check too knowing he made his str8, river comes, its ur last 7, also 7 suited.
He again checks to u on the river, now, do u bet or check.....
Once pot is bet on the river, and he has re-raised all in for 60 more, there is 210 in the pot. Do u fold to the re-raise? U know hes got something big, hes been playing solid, but getting 4-1 on ur $$ with quads is a worth while call no?
my friend and I debated this and etc, right call wrong call etc, i said, no matter what, 4-1 on ur $$ u have to call, if u wanna see it the other way, u got quads, whats the odds hes got the str8 flush? How do you all see it?
even though it was a tough pot to lose, i knew i read him right and played it perfect, and knew if anything but the 7 dropped i take the pot or walk away, and that honestly made the loss, and the beat so much easier to accept. Thats my opinion, i got up took a 5 min walk and got right back into the next tables/games not even thinking about the loss.
Hope to get some good feedback, tc all be safe, see u on the tables eventually -
sucky situation to be in since u didnt win the pot but if u fold quads like that ur losing money in the long run ina game of that size.
kinda hard to decipher without a hand history though.. -
I think great call. Not sure how you fold quads here. If you do, it's just too tight.
Good call.
Bad result.
Well played. -
...does anyone ever fold quads in any poker game ? If I ever get quads, my whole stack will wind up in the pot.......if I lose, so be it.....

Your just a bit unlucky, I'l bet my house on quads. But saying that i've never won any money playing poker.

If youre playing youre best, then you most know enough about poker to know you cant fold there. Ever. At the limit youre playing at, your opponent has such a wide range of hands. I've seen people get all in in Omaha with far, far less in situations like that. Like with AA58 in their hand, thinking Aces and 7s are good or something. You have to call there. Another thing that would help me call is his check on the turn AND river.... I guess you could look at it two ways - 1) he checked the river to possibly check raise, but you were expecting that since you said you put him on a made straight and a Flush draw which the 7 would make [so its exactly what you were hoping for in my opinion]. 2) he doesn't have shit and checked 4/5 street, and is making a move. I'll accept the EXTREMELY slim chance he has the straight flush considering the way it plays out. You're playing way toooo tight if you ever fold quads simply because there is a straight flush possibility.
