ummm you definitely don't have a flush.. you have all diamonds in your hand Edit: You can ONLY use 2 cards from your hand, and you must use 2 only. Thus you don't have a flush.
-
How many of my cards can I use?
-
oooouuuu, glad I sucked out then. Guess I had a bit of misunderstanding on the game. lolo
-
Ok, here I am only using one card, don't I have a boat?????

No, you have to use 2 of your cards. No more but also no less.
-
wow, I just threw 3 buyins away in 10 hands, what an AH!
I guess I just learned a lesson tho. Don't play a freaking game you don't know!!!
thanks tho. -
This is also why Omaha is so profitable. Anyway, befor eyou play omaha again, I would read up a little about it. Phil Helmuth's book has a chaper about Omaha that is pefect for beginners.

yeah you might wnat to read up before you start plo again. Just make sure you use two cards and exactly two cards from your hand to make the best hand.

Maybe I'm an idiot, but . . . I picked up this book at the dollar bin of my local used book store and I think that this chapter is simply the worst Omaha advice I've EVER seen. I know its difficult to find good information about Omaha. However, his advice regarding playing AAxx is just awful!!! He suggests in that chapter that if you have AAxx you should be willing to go broke preflop every time. I simply cannot agree. I'm no Omaha wizard, in fact, I'm just learning the game. However, I can think of many, many times, that you are better of folding AAxx preflop against a multitude of raisers in a micro cash game. For example, if neither of my aces can make the nut flush, I'll probably fold to a reraise and more than one other caller. This is not a hard and fast rule, because Omaha is not a game for hard and fast rules, but PH seems to suggest a hard and fast rule of getting it in w/AAxx every time. IMO this is terrible advice for a beginner.

P.S., upon further review, I think that this chapter does have other useful discussions for beginners such as the trouble hands section which is a good reminder that certain hands should be folded preflop simply because when you hit you almost always will have the 2nd nutz. However, my main problem is PH's play with AAxx, which may actually be valid advice at high stakes, but is probably bad advice at low limits. -
AAxx is always ahead preflop. If you can get it in by all means you should. Every time. Loses a lot more than AA in holdem but should never be folding that hand unless you are super deepstacked. If you are deepstacked and can't get a lot of your stack in preflop then take a flopa nd play the game post flop. But if you are folding it with less than 100BB then you shouldn't be playing PLO.

Now I have never read PH's book but having read his recent inane blog post about playing KQhh with 7 BB I can only imagine the genius in that book. -
Fold this pre sir!

If you know nothing about the game this chapter will at least get you headed in the right direction. However, if you really want to learn the game pick up a copy of http://www.amazon.com/Pot-Limit-Omah.../dp/0818407263. Simply the best PLO information currently available.

Hwang's book is thorough & excellent. Ray Zee's Hi-Low-Split Poker is also definitely worth owning. Bobby Baldwin does the Omaha 8OB in Doyle's Super System. Deuces Cracked site has good Omaha tutorial.
