You guys are deep enough where I'd call and try to fill up in position. If board pairs and he checks, value bet the riv obv. If you miss and he pots its a a fold.

that sure was a set of aces... thanks for that man.

I play cash omaha hi almost exclusively and i think the proper play is to call in this situation.
four reasons: 1) He has almost fifty in font of him which is high stack at table. Giving you implied odds in the call. If you are a five to 1 dog the IOs are almost thier, especially if you think he would pay u off. he may have lower set and probing with his bet.
2.) He maybe leading with a smaller set of two pair and has you on the flush draw. This is the type of thing you would know if you had played with him a lot. Is he an active player that takes hands away like this? Do you often fold at the first sign of trouble?
3.) In my experience you can't allow people to push you around in omaha, good players will pick up on this type of weak play (raising pre folding at first sign of danger)
4.) You have the k
, if another heart peels you have a solid oppurtunity to put in a big bluff on the river, though it commits most of your chips it is a solid play especially if you can check raise him. They way I would look at it you probaly can play the hand as though you had the sixteen outs.
Last point: if anything you played too conservatively, which isn't a bad thing, folding is defenite option, with reraising the worst of all choices. Hope this helps and good luck -
this guy played 2 hands similar to this, where he was out of position and called pot size bets with straight draws and let out on the turn a pot sized bet as well. he hit both times obv. this is the only reason for folding here from my pov. against any other player, im normally raising, but knowing this info, i couldnt decide how to play it
guess i pussed out on this hand -
In the spirit of looking to learn more about PLO, why is raising the worst option there? I can certainly understand the call for pot-size control (in the off-chance of 53), and to get another bet out of him on the river if a non-diamond comes and he thinks his middle set is good. But I also don't like giving free cards if HE'S trying to take the pot away with a flush draw.

Raising without the nuts when a draw has hit is usually not a good idea. Top set is great, but you're not going to see too many players stack off with two pair or even middle set in a case like this.
Heck, with the amount of limping in this game, our raise basically gives away the fact that we've got AA/KK. And, an A hit. And we potted it. And, we still got called? Obv the diamonds are out there, but so is a potential straight draw as well on that flop.
If we had some sort of combo draw, like a higher straight draw, nuts flush draw, and the top set or something, than I don't mind putting in my stack when there's clearly a straight on the board.
Otherwise, we're putting in too much of our money in behind too often.
I'd call here and hope to see the board pair the river. There are 9 cards that pair the river and your last A as well, so you do have some outs to win the pot outright. Plus, I suppose there's also a few times when he is holding a lower set or some sort of combo draw where our set is still actually ahead enough to justify a call here, but usually, especially at these stakes, a pot sized bet here means that someone has it. -
more times than not peobably 90 - 10 villian will have the 5-3, so if you raise they are going to re pot and now your commiting all your chips behind. In omaha people often are peddling the nuts. I think that calling and folding are the only two options here also villian is not on the nut flush draw because we have the Kd (not hearts as I put in prvious posts). since this is a cash game no need to take a huge risk. But me personally I call and see if the river brings a winner or a danger card (a diamond) and then I descion time if you are going with the big bluff.
-
yeah, I like the call only UNLESS the player had shown passed signs of aggro behavior with draws / and 2 pair, or, say, bottom set.
With no information (and in this case we have evidence he only bets pot with made 5 card hands) the call with top set with good implied odds and or a chance to pick off a bluff, if infact he is semi bluffing. If you miss the nut boat on the river I'd call a small bet depending on how dangerous the river card looked and fold otherwise. Top set is great but in some situations it only picks off bluffs.

I'd say at least call and hope for the board to pair on the river. Even if he does have 53, you have enough outs going to the river. Raising back here is probably not a good idea. Getting stuck with the 2nd nuts in omaha happens, but I honestly think he has it here. He's not potting the turn with nothing or just 2 pair or a lower set. A lower set would raise that flop in most cases as would 2 pair...or at least they should.
Raising is the worst option IMO. You raise and lets say he immediately puts you all in...you know you're probably beat, but you feel committed and you're putting your entire buy in on the line hoping for the board to pair. Personally, I'd rather not get involved in big pots in omaha unless I'm sure I have the best of it. -
if this pot was heads up raising back on the turn might not be bad vs certain villians. But with someone left to act raising the pot is horrible. This is a standard call. re- evalute river gain more information then act on it.
edit. oh it is heads up on turn nevermind.
