1. Man I was the top salesman at our ATT Wireless franchise over the last year which encompasses 12 stores and over 50 salesmen. Today out of the blue the General Manager and Area Manager came to our store and fired me saying that I had been discounting accessories and abusing the discount overide codes and terminated me. My co-workers and manager were shocked. Yes I had discounted somke accessories and what-not, but only to close sales and keep folks from taking their business to Radio Shack or Wal-Mart. Well I could probably find another sales job, but Im kinda tired of the hell that is 9-5 jobs. So here I am with 25K in the bank and a BR on Stars of about 18K and Im trying to decide if maybe going full-time is a realistic option... I would like decent replies, Flames are cool too....
  2. How much are your monthly bills?
  3. Family? Kids?.. Health insurance if you have a kid is a must. ATT had a good health plan when I worked for them back in the day.. Talking about strike talks here with ATT and the CUTW..

Id say if you have no family go for it and if you have a family get another job if you can.
  4. seems more then realistic to me

  5. what are you talking about!!? you can make a great living multi-tabling 1-2 and you need between a $4000 and $9000 bankroll and your well rolled for that. You can even play higher if you want. There are proffesionalls with less money than you have, some low stakes grinders.

Go for playing proffesionally. Good luck man

Very very reallistic that you can be a successful pro.
  6. dont do it, get another job asap

  7. sue for wrongful termination

LOL at ever winning that when he's ever given a discount. Not hard for ATT to win that one at all.

    hes got the race-card
  10. This all depends on our bills and how much you can realistically grind out. If you have a half decent amount after your nut then you can grind. But poker takes on an entirely different form when you start doing it for a living and putting in a huge amount of volume so you can have a halfassed guarantee'd check. I was fired the end of february and my only choices were construction for $8 an hour or grind low limit for $25. So here I am.

  11. go for it... gl

  12. My mom said that I could at least get unemployment since they had never written me up for these discounts. I have a fiancee and a 6 month old, but my GF had insurance for her since she works for the state. I thought my GF would be mad, but she thinks that i should at least give it a try. I am not sure though becuase i have tried to play full-time before and it turned out bad. Ofcourse I had about 500 in the bank and a BR of 2K then....WHat really frustrates me is I just spent about 3.5K on a new laptop, a desktop and a couch. If i knew i was gonna get canned, I woulda saved that money...

  14. Does "etc" include food for your family?

  15. stay within a good bankroll, start by multi-tabling 1-2 NO limit, cash out every 2 weeks, and you'll be fine.

If your worried about how you'll do, get a coach.

Play poker, enjoy the freedom, you can also be with your kid more often.

I'm sure you didnt get 18K in your poker account because you suck.

Be confident and make some money at the tables
  16. as my parents once said "get a job!!"
  17. u def got the bankroll for it. i say go for it
  18. 1X!

  20. You're the guy that called a C/R in a 3-bet pot on an 89T board with AQ, right? Get another job.
  21. Call me.
  22. Do you live near a B&M card room? If your anything like me (I think I have ADD) you can't sit in front of a computer screen for more than a few hours at a time... Card rooms are softer, have good perks and are much more entertaining to me. (2cents)
  23. deposit that 20k and play 200/400 imo

How does this make sense? You cure ur "ADD" by seeing 1 hand every minute and a half instead of 20 hands a minute....
  25. If they never wrote you up and you were allowed to give discounts to make sales, consult with a laywer.

As to going for it, if the fiancee is cool, the health insurance is covered, I say go for it for a while but play well within the bankroll.

  26. Go for it, if it doesn't work, get a job. You have the most important thing a lotta players don't have, a good support system since your gf thinks you should try. And you have money to pay the bills for long enough that you can find out if you want to/can do this fulltime.

Why can't you return the laptop/desktop?
    glgl
  27. you say that you have a GF/fiancee and a baby. Does the GF work? Full-time? Part-time? If she works, can you and the baby (at LEAST the baby) get insurance through her? If she works, how much of her earnings can and do go towards bills? These are the big questions imo.

Also a small sidenote, you said you're daughters 6 months old, right? Well, if you "go pro" you could also consider yourself a stay-at-home dad. 1000x better to have a parent home with the child anyways, and this could be a great way to keep yourself from getting burnt out. If you're having a rough day, turn and look at your baby's smile, and go play with her for the afternoon.

Well since there is a shit load more information to work with live I guess it gives my mind something to do at all times....? Plus meeting people and talking to them is 1000x more interesting than typing stuff into a chat box.... Make sense now?
  30. Give a good solid try while you look for work. If you don't try you will always look back and wonder . Take the oppurtunity now while you can.
