I was there a few months ago and could play on stars but not UB or party.Mind you it is illegal and I wouldn't be too comfortable playing in a public place.You might end up staying a lot longer than 10 hours.

Fascinating article Adam. I've read similar stories elsewhere about Dubai. What a farce that place is, in every meaning of that word. I've been curious to visit only to witness the extreme excess and superficiality of which humans are capable. It would be interesting to try to make a documentary on all of its levels (without getting imprisoned yourself).

No kidding. It was really eye-opening in a lot of ways. I've made a point to show it to as many people as possible since I first read it, as there is a lot of stuff going on there that people have no idea about but that would make most human beings sick to their stomach to hear. Been there twice and its a nice city. Too expensive for me. We golfed and it was hot as hell. The big ass mall they have there is nice.

A Briton, traveling through Dubai on his way to England, was arrested and sentenced to 4 years in jail, for having a microscopic piece of cannabis stuck to the bottom of one of his shoes. Keith Brown by name, this guy was stopped while he was walking through the Dubai airport and searched with high tech equipment.

The search revealed a piece of cannabis on the bottom of one of his shoes, too small to be seen with the naked eye, weighing only 0.003 grams.

With their zero-tolerance policy when it comes to drugs, UAE did this kind of thing before. Just to show you how insane this is, another man was thrown in jail in the past for having in his possession three poppy seeds, left from a lunch he had before he left England.
Another man that had in his pocket a similar speck of cannabis last November is still waiting for his sentence.

The article above is the exact reason why i am afraid to go there. While they likely wouldnt search a white male wihtout reason, it is a tad scary. Your perscription could be illegal, a guy I knew got drunk on the plane in first class, then got thrown in jail upon arrival because the airplane caled him in as being drunk

wow.... so sickening how there can still be places like this left in the world. im assuming though americans wouldnt have to worry quite as much (just thinking that U.S. gov. would step in to help) if they imprisoned us or we ended up in one of these slave camps somehow?

Ya, I mean I had seen on TV I think discovery channel about how the workers that build the big towers were living in bad conditions and it showed them. However I never thought it was to the extent it was, it is just slaves building a materialistic world that has no freedom. It is to bad people choose to believe the lies they give out about how great it is. I always thought something was fishy there :)

Lol at your ignorance. Adam, what country would you recommend your members do illegal activities in? Let me get this straight, your an expert on Dubai because of some article you read in a UK newspaper? So now "you found out whats really going on there". Lolz come on!! And since reading this article that is intent on making the country look bad, you decide to go on to your poker discussion site and tell your members not to go there because its "royally fucked up". If any reporter wants to make any country look bad, it can be done pretty easily and you would be like "omg that place is royally fucked". And this includes Britain, US or any other country that isnt "royally fucked" in your opinion.

The main point of this article is they exploit low wage laborers that come from third world countries. It is true to an extent that this is being done. You need cheap labor to build countries. After all, our country was built on the cheapest labor possible just in case you forgot about slavery. We just figured out we cant get away with it anymore so we exploit workers in other manners. Like fucking over illegal immigrants for cheap labor. Its the real world and thats how things work everywhere. The poverty stricken get fucked.

What that article doesnt point out is that these employees come from there native third world countries that exploit them even worse. Why else would a million plus workers go to Dubai voluntarily every year. Its because Dubai pays more than there own countries and they need to go there to feed there families. These people are starving in there own country. Its obviously a fucked up system but the World has been run on fucked up systems for a long time just in case you havent noticed.

Ohh and the garbage story about the british women and her husband being locked up for 6 months is laughable as well. Take it with a grain of salt as you should all storys in media because its all biased. They have different laws in that country that people need to follow. How do you know that couple didnt commit "financial fraud" there by running up debts thinking they wouldnt have to pay it back by just declaring "bankruptcy".
How many innocent people are locked up in our wonderful prison system? And just in case you havent noticed, we imprison more people than any country in the world. So get off your high horse and quit spreading nonsense to your members about things you dont have much knowledge of besides reading some biased article.

Ohh and you live and do business in Costa Rica. I can guarantee you I can write an article by taking some disgruntled peeps from there that would make people go "Omg, what a disgusting place, I never want to go there". You think the poor people in Costa Rica arent exploited and you dont think there are innocent people in there prisons that got "fucked royally" ???
