  1. This article was just posted on Calvinayre.com (Bodogs former (current?) owner) so it might be legit:

    http://calvinayre.com/2011/02/10/leg...line-gambling/

Also, John Kyl retiring is great news for us, he's our #1 enemy. The current depositing issues suck obv, but maybe there's light at the end of the tunnel.

  2. RIP John Kyl......ned to change his last name to FYL
  3. So is this article is true will online poker stay the course in the gray zone or become 100% legal in the US now?
  4. Thanks for sharing a bit of good news. seems like everything is gloom and doom lately in terms of banking/legislation. Hopefully the tides are turning.

Fabulous news for 2013 not sure about the next two years though. He seems to extremely anti-gambling on a personal level and not just for political reasons. He has enough power to block a lot of things in the Senate and he may be willing to use it to crush any online gambling bill. With no voters to answer to he can do whatever he wants at this point. When politicians have been in these situations in the past they tend to make their pet projects their ultimate goal and don't care about the rest. Unfortunately, I think online gambling is one of his.

    Hey guys,

Serving as a Reporter for CalvinAyre.com is my 90% of my job (the other 10% being a Fact Checker across the internet and forums) so I can confirm that this article is totally legit.

  7. " So for the time being, they’ll continue to confiscate all the online poker cash they can identify in US bank accounts and they’ll continue to press gaming companies that have yet to reach a financial settlement to ‘make things right."

Bodog Becky, can you tell us how this news positively effects the players? From the looks of this article the DOJ will continue to seize funds, they are just going to leave the poker sites and their executives alone. Seems like it's business as usual and very little has changed for us players. Correct me if I'm wrong.

Calvin has never had anything to worry about- believe me, he has a great life and is working with some great organizations all over the world. He has known for years he was not a target of anything in the US.

The CalvinAyre.com article that is referenced above just confirms what we have known for years...the US is not actively going after operators or players, only grabbing eCom monies, mostly from Poker operators.

However, you are right, in the short run this changes nothing. It is only possibly a game changer after Kyle leaves office in two years. Here is another link to coverage of the Kyl story if you are interested.

Actually Becky - this confirms nothing. It's a man with everything to gain citing *unnamed sources* and *claiming* that execs have nothing to worry about etc.

As a *reporter* you ought to know that this is not information that we can consider reliable. It might be right, but it's hardly unbiased and it hasn't been confirmed by independent sources. Until then it is merely rumor and speculation.

Edit/P.s. readers of the original article should just consider the source. It might well be accurate... it might well not be.

Bodog is still very relevant as a sports book but they've haven't really tried to appeal to the serious high-volume poker player. If anything, they try to alienate serious high-volume poker players -- by their own admission. They are focusing on making the site fish friendly. Whether this works out in the long-run for their poker product and overall company goals is yet to be seen.
