  1. Preface: Been playing NLHE Live Poker and Online Poker for about two years now, prefer to play in Vegas, at Commerce Casino and The Bicycle Casino.

Situation: Early stages of a SNG and someone pops it up to $150, you re raise all for over $1000 chippies with KK. AND GET INSTA CALLED with KJ suited.

Thoughts: Something that really stands out for me is that Online Poker players rarely fold to a re-raise. I've seen this at all levels of play, from low stakes to high stakes poker.

And it seems that most of the time the opponent doesn't even have odds to call but will call a re-raise with low pockets or AJ, or something that doesn't add up. It's almost like an "ego" call, like they don't stop to think that they could actually be beat.

    - This is not about your opponent calling a re-raise when they are well behind only to catch a miracle

    - This is not about calling re-raises with pot odds, implied odds, table image and tells

This is about an opponent calling a re-raise when they know they are well behind and then you scratch your head and say "what are they thinking?". Sure you are happy you won but its amazing to see what gets called down. I've even gone so far as to type in the chat box "you couldn't put me on a high pr at least?" out of slight concern.

Is this a classic case of online poker being over saturated?

When I played live this past weekend, my re-raise was respected and rarely called unless the opponent had a monster.

Would be cool to see if the likes of NSXT2, Cardrunners or Pokermentors had an article on this subject.
  2. " I've even gone so far as to type in the chat box "you couldn't put me on a high pr at least?""

i wouldnt say stuff like this, just makes the donks think more about their play

    This was very funny.

  5. Live poker IS much different from online poker. I think the only thing you can do online is play tight/solid poker & pray.
  6. Why tap the fishtank?

lots of people only see the cards in front of them and don't give yours a 2nd thought. Lets keep it that way.
  7. Maybe things change at the highest levels of on line poker, but at the low levels, you can't use advice form pros or the stuff they push in books, tight, tight, tight, putting moves on people, who either have no clue, or could care less is useless.
  8. We all should be happy when plays like that take place. I do think is ego or maybe just cause they are suited and look pretty, who knows, and to be honest i'd care less. i agree that on online, people rarely respect a raise and usualy don't think twice before calling, matter of fact i also see a lot of re-raises with those kind of hands (and similar). in live play players are a little more cautious though, from my experience. that comment you typed in the chat box is classic though, got me rolling. hahaha
  9. Also Low stakes Poker is full of "Spite Calls." The donks will call you with anything if you have taken a lot of their chippies and they are upset. Sometimes donks at low levels will complain that you are raising too much and will play some rags against you because they don't like players who raise preflop because they want to see all the flops.

    LOL So true!!!!!!
  11. some fish was yelling at me yesterday cuz i was playing a 25/50c ring game and there would be a limper, and i would raise it to like 2 bux. All i coudl do was laugh,(and as i was playing on a friends account) tell him to go to the 50/100 limit game were i had 30K lol
  12. It seems to me that there is a lot of calling re-raises because too many people have watched tv poker and think that everyone else who raises is trying to steal the pot. Too many people don't think that much about, but like was said above, why would you try to change their minds? In the long run you'll be better off.
  13. I thought the same thing, TV poker..
