Lee and poker stars staff.
WCOOP is the best online event in poker. It is a goal all top online players shoot for, and yields the largest prize fields in online poker. Unfortunately the changed structure this year is going to be a disaster. Even though you have 30 minute levels, with 2500 in starting chips and the blinds starting at 25/50 (vs 10-20 for other tournies INCL Sunday million where you ALSO have 2500 starting chips) you have completely eliminated the early level play out of the tournament. In addition, when you hit the 4th level of the tourney, you are allready at 150/300 blinds....this will serve to place the tourney for most at the level of 'push or fold' SO EARLY in the most prestigious online tourney in the world. This is the public's perception of online poker....its luck, its allways 'all in'. In our most important events can't we have a better tourney structure?
I understand that the internal logic behind these decisions are likely based on how long it will take the tourney to complete, and how many people will be playing in it. However, the integrety of the game and the integrety of your marquee event should be the overriding factor. You still have PLENTY of time to change this structure and i and MANY other players who PLAN ON PLAYING IN MOST OR EVERY EVENT AGREE IT SHOULD BE DONE!
While i am at it, can you consider breaking the MAIN EVENT out into a 2 day tourney? Perhaps the final 100 or so can play a 'day 2' i envision those going deep playing for hrs 15-22 on no sleep, and ,quite frankly, could lead itself to 'partners' if someone gets to tired.....or at the worst for players, careless and stupid mistakes at the most critical times.
I and other members of pocketfives.com would like you to consider this ASAP and hope to hear a responce from you that benefits Poker stars AND its players, as well as projects the right image of the style of play of online poker to the entire poker community.
