Sooo I currently only play on stars and FTP and have considered opening a UB account. I know their site is riddled with controversy and have heard many a bad stories from personal friends. Thoughts on whether opening an account would be a good or bad idea.
ps- Feel free to leave personal experiences you've had with the site! Thanks! -

I never had a problem with my money on Cereus. In fact I encourage my players to grind there, since it's by far the softest place for US players.
-
I have never had a problem with my acct. their. Checks have always come quickly. And i have had some decent success playing the step stt's. Just don't keep a lot in the acct.

I've never had an issue...cashouts have always come pretty quick and customer support is really good imo. Make sure you get that rakeback tho.
-
How do I get rakeback?
-
read this --> http://www.pocketfives.com/f2048/wha...-i-get-348364/
then go here, the UB code is at the bottom of the page. ---> http://rakeback.pocketfives.com/ -
The only money I make in poker I make on UB, and then spend most of it on Full Tilt. I like their tournament structure and thier MTTs are soft and reasonably sized so you don't have to devote 8 hours to play one. I have played off and on on the site for 4 years and have only had a few issues with cashouts, but they were all resolved fairly quickly. I agree that I would not keep a ton of money in their accounts.

It seems like the general consensus thus far is that most people do not have issues with the site. I think negative news is always compounded more so than any positive news. I will def take the advice of not putting too much money on the site to start out with.
Thanks for the help thus far! Additional opinions would be appreciated! -
If you're going to start playing on Cereus, I would recommend going with AP. Their tables and lobby look much cleaner and the colors are less annoying. I personally like their table set up better than everywhere else online. Obv rakeback is key, that's the only thing that sucks for me playing on AP, cuz I can play on UB with rakeback but the color scheme tilts the fuck outta me. But like i just mentioned you can have an acct on both sites to sign up for both and see which you prefer.
And as for everything else you asked, I've been playing on AP since January when I first began playing online, didn't know about the potripper scandal or rakeback or anything(lolnoob). I had friends that already played on their and they xfer'd me dollaz. That being said, I've never had any problems with them and everytime I've ever needed assistance they were always their to help me and answer my questions. -
Personal tastes are gonna vary obv but I prefer UB's software to AP's because the cards are small and right on top of the player pod and the opponent's down cards are much smaller on Absolute as well. Both factors make it more difficult for me to see who is in the hand and when I have cards myself. That being said, I rarely if ever play on either but to each his own. FWIW I have played on both in the past and have never experienced any problems even before the Cereus takeover.

bad idea if you have no respect for money
-
Well yeah, this would be true if making money on UB wasn't absurdly easier than the other sites, cashouts didn't seem to be faster than any other site, etc.

Dwell in the past much? -
ub sucks.Don't do it.i opened one couple months ago and i hate it.uninstalled it and never again.
-
Over/under until the next Cereus/AP/UB scandal?
-
If you're good at the pokerz, its a bad idea.
If you're still learning, please join. You'll fit right in.
In all seriousness, UB is awesome cause the play is generally worse than PS/FTP and the fields are smaller so the variance is a bit lower. Its nice for your confidence after getting a bunch of 10th-15ths in some 4k+ player minefields on PS/FTP. -
pretty much this, ive never had a problem with the site, and even bad players like myself can put in a little volume and grind out a few K playing (low stakes) and with a little bit of run well, dabble in some midstakes and a great opportunity to hit a decent score, without the thought of battling through 4k+ minefields that you gotta run like a fuckin cheetah just to get to the FT., never mind winning it.

Oh and um, i noticed Russ Hamilton listed as one of your favourite players....Not exactly a name thats held in high esteem around these parts lol. -
All this is is A+. I love their support, and alot of the tards that whine about stars and tilt being rigged seem to end up there at midstakes making for some easy pickings as long as you don't get cold decked, and have a slightly above average bank of poker knowledge/experience.

Obviously doesn't EVER happen on any other site. -
been good for me recently. no prob withdrawalling. much smaller fields too which i like
-
Its difficult to get money in and out
Bad structures
Ub charges 8 dollars to get money out. -
I had problems withdrawing on UB. Didn't like having to sign up for eWalletXpress and waiting through that whole process. Competition is softer than FTP & stars, but I think that goes for all sites.
-
UB has been the best site for me as far as success, customer service and speed of checks. Software is on par with FTP it crashes more but lags less.
If you are good please listen to the "dont join the crooked site crowd' disregarding the fact that its been sold twice I think since the russ hamilton scandal happened. If you not good join up you might be better than the average player on UB anyway.
