  1. Button (villain): $86.00
    SB: 94.00
    BB (hero): 120.00
    Blinds: .50-.50

Notes: Button is aggressive and will bluff multiple streets. Known to overbet and make large all-in overbets on the river. Honestly, after three years of play it's 50/50 between a bluff and the best hand.

    Hero's hand: Ah10h
Pre-flop: button raises to $2.00, sb: folds, bb: calls
    Pot: 4.50

    Flop: 9s 8c Ad

    BB: bets 3.00
Button: quickly raises to 12.00. (In our history this either means he's confident in his play or is trying very hard to seem confident. Usually the latter. Since it is possible he has an A-x hand and will continue to bet at the pot if checked to I believe it's worth it to call on the chance he's bluff or actually has a hand. If he has an A-x type hand thats weaker he'll usually check behind to keep the pot small and show the hand down and only continue betting w/ a bluff or a better hand like trips or two-pair.)
    BB: calls 9.00
    Pot: 28.50

    Turn: 6h
    BB: checks
    Button: Bets 12.00
BB: calls (essentially same thoughts as the flop)

    River: 7d

I fill an unlikely straight. I end up betting $21.00 and the opponent folds saying afterwords he held AJ, but most likely that's untrue. The question for the hand is should I have made the $21.00 value bet because it seemed strange, betting on a scare card as such when it's unlikely that made my hand unless I was playing exactly A10 or 108 or 109 type hand. Or should I have checked and used our history of him making large overbets take precedence since the times I stack him when he bluffs (or in this case bets anything ((assuming he doesn't have J10)) at all) all-in are more profitable?
  2. I think your move on the river has to look weak:

    a. Check and let his natural instinct cause him to bet. Then check-raise. You get at least the amount of his bluff before he folds.

    b. Weak-lead ($8 to $10) and see if he will come over the top of your weak lead. Make it look like you are trying to show down a weak hand with a blocking bet. He might get curious and just call or raise.

    c. Push in the hopes that he will call your weak looking push because he suspects you're bluffing. He might not be the type of player to call-off his stack since he likes to bluff a lot.
