could this guy be any more socially awkward. it is painful to watch. he makes Durrr look like David Letterman.
-
Was he on HSL?
if so, I'll agree, little awkward, but prolly isn't on camera much so i bet we all would be.
had a nice pad though -
Yea Robl seemed pretty akward, but so did Dwan at times. Such as, "... DUDE!... <insert akward pause here> .... oh I can't we're on tv".
To be honest Dwan and Robl both seem a little light in the loafers and maybe that made it seem more akward, but sometimes I felt like I was watching a couple of fashion designers play poker. Townsend, Brunson, Chan, or Seed needed to start chewing snuff, spitting, and/or shaving to balance all that out IMO :\ -
Not sure Durr should wear sooo much make-up. He looks like a grown up Eddie Munster.
Of course, Eddie has mad poker skilz. -
robl tries to be like the dude in the "my new haircut" you tube video, can see his "cribs" episode on cardplayer
-
i havent seen it but typically robl is very outgoing...when he showed his house he seemed pretty normal
-
Listening to durr and robl conversate makes me want to slice my ears off.
-
i love it how durrrr trys to monopolize the conversation every time. When someone else starts a story or even talks he has to immediately say whats on his mind... learn some social skills.
-
on a related note, does anyone know who the next amateur is to appear on PAD? I only ask because I played a sng with a guy who claimed he was on the show. last name featherstone or something, plays as The Gimmick on FT.... should I believe this HORSE puckey? (it was a HORSE sng, I took it down)

lol @ Doyle Brunson's subtle reaction to durrr's incessant jabbering @ 2:02 into this video:

LOL, I noticed that when I first watched it too, but he changed his demeanour back so quickly that it threw me.

It really is tough to be hard on these kids, but my opinion is two fold here. They seem to be chatting alot to offset what looks like nerves to me. Rememeber they are playing with 2 of the 3 biggest names the game has ( Hellmuth being the 3rd). However the other facor that may be at work here is complicated. Maybe they have in fact spent so much of their youth sitting in front of a TV, playing video games or playing online poker that they actually have no fucking clue how to interact maturely.
Dont know them so cant say. The only thing I will say is that it is painful to watch. If I was the producer of the show after watching this clip they would not be back. -
How can you condemn the way they act when Hellmuth, one of your three biggest names, acts the way he does. They are young, but I don't think they are acting overly immature. Especially Durrr, I think he handles himself pretty well and that will only improve with experience. Better to be young and naive than bitter and obnoxious. I think Doyle likes him, he seems to be talking with him quite a bit.

I have to admit, when I first heard Durr talk I just figured he was gay. He sounds just like my little brother who is a super flamer.
-
I think the kid seems pretty cool. Definitely seen much worse by far.
-
Townsend told the table he had AQ one hand and Durrr replies that AQ is the nutz...ship it. The look of disgust on Doyle's face is priceless.
-
Whatever individual critique anyone may have this is a great show to watch. Creating some interest in a show that had become stale.....tired of watching Matasow on his 13 appearances and Phil's antics becoming just another side-show.
Okay, would welcome Tilly bouncing on a trampoline.

Yes, cross The Man Show with PAD, and we have a winner!

Don't know how much Robl plays live, but apart from him sounding like he had a retainer in his mouth, it was his physical awkwardness that I noticed. He sat almost constantly with both hands out, flat on the table, wheterh in the hand or out as far as I could tell. I assumed this was a live adaptation to try not to give off tells.
For all I know he's a live player all the time too though, so I could be way off here.
In terms of chattiness. I'd think it's got to be a hard crossover. I'm always talking to my monitor playing at home. I've only played live 4-5 times at most and catch myself at tiems about to say shit that I really shouldn't be saying or doing because... well there are other players there. That's gotta be magnified on TV.
Final thing on Robl.... very funnywhen they busted him about his makeupo job.... there was so much pancake on his face he looked like the undertaker had prepped him for an open casket viewing. Clearly trying to cover some suoerheater pimplage, which I'd want coverd too if I were me, but man it looked awkward.
posting and potentially too newb and ignorant to be anywhere near the mark,

I think it is pretty silly that you guys think you know what Dolly was thinking during all of this, that little pic right there could jsut as easily be Doyle getting tired for a second and putting his hand on his face, he is an old stooge at this point... I thought Doyle and Durr seemed to be getting along well.
And I didnt even find the nets that bad. You are supposed to talk on tv... Have you ever watched this show when people are quiet? Do you know how less entertaining it would be if everyone acted like Johnny Chan at that table? -
^^agree, I'd rather watch Durr than Chan any time.
-
As tough as it is to hear Robl and Durrr talk.... it's even tougher to watch Johnny Chan's play somea the hands. WOW did he make some horrible plays.
-
The internet kids using the internet vernacular didn't translate well at all. Saying 'Ship it' and 'Levelled' was just playing to their internet fanboys IMO.
