I tried to make a deposit today in my Paradise account but I was greated by a message
saying your deposit limit has been reached. Over the past month on dise I've made a few
nice scores. Whenever I make a significant score I always withdraw the majority of the funds
immediately. So today I needed to make a deposit. I recently changed banks therefore I couldn't make a deposit via neteller so I tried using my Bank Card. Thats when I recieved a message stating I had exceeded my deposit limits. As I left the cashier I noticed an option called limits on one of the bottom tabs. I just naturally assumed this was a way to raise your deposit limits. It needs to be noted that I was trying to make a deposit quickly so that I could play the 90k GTD and the 35K GTD. When I selected this limits option I asumed that by increasing the amounts my deposit limits would be raised. I must say in my attemp to expidite what I was doing I didnt really read everything word for word. To make a long story short, once I clicked ok and submitted the changes I was kicked of the site an unable to log back in. I contacted Paradise and I was told that I excluded myself form the site. This is the only information they would give me. They said they are strict about there policy and would not change regardless of the fact that I made a mistake. After explaining the situation to them they replied with the same response. Is this a joke or what.
The server goes down 3 to 4 times per week. They change contest rules in mid-stream. They dont even read all emails, they just send auto-replys, that don't pertain to the quetsion or situation which was addressed. I listed the last three emails they sent me below. Notice how to people sent me the exact same email after I asked a different question.
Hello,
Thank you for your e-mail. The reason you are unable to login to your account is due to a self exclusion request submitted via the "limits" area of the cashier screen.
As part of our commitment towards responsible gaming we are required honor your request to restrict access to your account for the duration of the period you selected. Please be assured that full access to your account will be restored at the conclusion of the exclusion period.

yeah...its true, not the best site but far from the worst.
Im am biased because my poker venture really started on dise,But i prefer stars. -
They have very few tournies with good structures anymore. They changed everything to a quickie tourney or something and the lower limit freezeouts are "quickies" anyway with the very short levels. They rake rebuys. Server goes down constantly. I really dont think its that far-fetched to say its one of the worst sites....
-
Their low limit tourneys are a joke....
-
They have 5 card draw though.

I don't play there so I can't comment on any of the other issues, but I can understand why they won't let you back in to play. Can you imagine how many problem gamblers must exclude themselves and then turn around and say they didn't mean to do it, or give one of any other million excuses why they should be allowed to play again. How can the sites seperate those people who really NEED to be excluded from the one person who excludes himself/herself accidently? If I was running the site I would probably think you were just one more of those people too. Lots of people really do have gambling problems and it's probably for the best that the sites offer them the option of banning themselves and then take it seriously and stick to it after they do so. Sucks for you since it was accidental, but you must understand why they take it so seriously and if you really don't like the site for a number of other reasons anyway, then it's probably not that big of a loss for you.
BTW, I think most of the sites offer some sort of option on the time limit you can exclude yourself for ranging from one month to forever, so maybe you if you're lucky you chose less than forever and could play there again in a few months. -
in fact lind0, i believe that for those reasons paradise should actually be commended. i agree with you that many problem gamblers probably ban themselves only to later ask to be allowed to gamble again. hats off to a site that respects the self exclusion and sticks to their policies, even though its easy money for them to let the degenerate continue
-
You're exactly right. It's not really something to be complained about. If online gaming is to remain legal (and ethical for that matter) then all the sites must address the issue of problem gambling and offer a strict self exclusion policy along with providing other means of help to those who need it.
edit: you guys beat me to posting and I was referring to the post by luck box. Anyway, we know you're not a problem gambler, and perhaps the site is confusing, but you said yourself you were rushing and didn't really read what you were agreeing to. You must understand though why they take this so seriously. -
Neteller is in the process of verifying my new account. Do you understand now. I used to leave a good sum of money in my neteller account until last week when they mistakingly removed $2000 from my account. It took them 4 days to get it straightened out, so I decided to keep it in the bank and make deposits as needed. This way I'd atleast be earning interest on my money instead of it just sitting in a poker site or Neteller and not earning anything.
-
I had NO idea it was possible to 'ban yourself' from a poker site !!....do all poker sites have this 'feature' ?
Kinda weird.......the poker sites are assuming everyone has a split personality....a 'rational' left side of the brain and an irrational right side of the brain......the left side always says 'don't gamble' and the right side says 'gamble'.......then the left side puts on the 'site ban' and the right side is unable to get the ban removed.....very bazaar...... -
Yeah, Dise does suck in major ways.....unfortunately, its the only site i seem to be able to consistently win a good deal of money on. So I will stay, but many things about the site upset me......
- server crashes constantly
- raking rebuys
- some good tourneys disappearing
- quickies are idiotic
- blind structure is terrible in almost every tourney other then $200+ buy in events.
- probably many more problems -
I am gonna tell the clerk at the liquor store to BAN me permanently......no matter how much I beg and whine in the future throw me OUT of the store........
...this 'ban yourself' thing might really catch on........ -
Just reminded myself of what paradise poker's cashier interface looked like.
As someone who was a software designer, and worked on interfaces/usability, etc. this was a bad beat indeed.
It is very counter-intuitive that the "Limits" button takes you to a process about the ultimatelimiting. It is much more reasonable to conclude as dabadestchic did, that it wasabout raising/lowering limits of your various depositoptions.
I concede that you should read all the the lawyer paragraphs when you agree to something, in general, but....
Anyway, how long is your self-imposed exile from the island? 6 months? 3? -
This reminds me of that scene in Young Frankentein when Gene Wilder is about to go into the experiment room and he tells his workers ( Its pronounced EYE-gor, not Igor. . . ) that no matter what he says or does when he goes into the experiment room, do not let him out. Then he starts screaming hysterically "For the love of GOD, let me OUT!!!!!!!!!!!!. If you dont let me out Ill kill everyone out there. AWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW!" Classic. I know its not the same, but it just reminded me of that scene. lol.

You made a mistake (not their fault)
They have a commitment to assisting gamblers who realize they have a problem. These same gamblers would very likely come back later and try to play again. If they allowed anyone who said "it was an accident" to undo the process then they might as well not have it as an option at all.
There are at least 1000 other poker sites out there. Go play at one of those until the result of your mistake is over. -
I did this too i emailed them 595608865340 and they would not reinstate my account, so i have to wait until after the 6th of august..
-
Yea like world poker exchange!
-
that really blows. However I think that they refusing to not let you play after selecting that option is commendable and it is just a shitty situation. Paradise was my home site and where I preferred to play but recently been playing more on stars because of their structure and tourn selection. I totally agree that any non high buy in on dise runs quickly and the quickies are a different story altogether.
I reasoned it to my self like this. The bad beats are gonna happen on every site. I prefer to play somewhere where I can have more time to recover and/or more time to play lots of pots and build chips so I can absorb the beat.
Plus I gotta save up my paradise mojo for the mill freeroll.
Gl in your situation and if it dont work out just go play somewhere else. 37489034890 sites to choose from.
