Hi all,
this is my first post. I have been reading threads on this site with interest for the past few months and it has encouraged me to check out a few of the other playing sites out there. I have played mostly at paradise and like the rest of you i am growing tired of the site and its imperfections.
I have had reasonable success at the MTT's but seem to have difficulty closing out in the bigger R and A tourneys (the $10, $15 and $30) although i have placed 2nd twice in the $10 palm tree.
I deposited some $$$ into a few different sites, UB, Fulltilt, Regal vegas, bodog, just to see what else was out there. I won some money at UB but dont like the graphics, won at full tilt, lost at regal vegas (but collected a good bonus) and won at bodog (which i transfered to sportsbetting and lost it all anyway).
Last night i invested in party poker. i played in a $10 MTT and got down to the last 16 when i picked up AA mid table. i had the 2nd biggest stack overall and bet 4 times the blind from mid position, the chip leader was 2 seats to my left and raised about the same amount over the top. I decided to call all in thinking he would fold and still remain in the top 3 chip position but to my horror he calls and opens up 88. you guys know the rest of the story, he hits an 8 on the turn and knocks me out. I almost threw my PC out the window.
Is this type of bad play normal on Party poker, i have heard that it can be in the sit and go's but i thought in the MTT's it might have been better? All the other sites i previously mentioned the players didnt seem that bad.
If it is this bad always, i might move my whole bankroll there and tackle the MTT's more regularly. those aces have to stand up sooner or later and i will surely take down a nice 1st place.

party poker is bad, but you seemingly are overestimating the badness of the chip leaders play.
although his read was garbage it wasn't the worst play in the world and because you didn't recite chip stack sizes, bet sizes, etc it's impossible to know how bad his play was. he either read you for Ax (including AK), or any pocket lower than queens (presumably 1010 or below) and thought you'd lay it down. bad read, bad beat, thats poker.
funny thing about your post is your statement "won some money at UB but don't like the graphics" but now are contemplating depositing your entire bank account at party. -
The cash games on party are extremely bad. I just redeposited there for the first time in about a year. My first hand I sit down I get AA in the big blind. It limps around to me. Having read the site review from P5s, I wanted to see if I would get a call if I went all in. Of course the small blind who had limped calls me with A10 hahaha. Flop is all rags, he's drawing dead to running 10s. 10 turn 10 river and I am immediately down a full buyin after 1 hand. What a joke lol.

i love party poker.... if I had 88 and you made that move, I would put you on AK.
normally people just reraise big with KK and AA. You made a good move he just read you as AK and decided to gamble on the 50/50 shot with you. -
I understand that he probably read me as ak or aq or whatever, but he wa chip leader late into a tourney, and the 2nd chip leader (that was me) raised then went over the top of his reraise. He has to know that if i have a pair that i am ahead or even if i have ak or aq he is risking most of his stack on a coin flip.
The comment about the graphics is the same for party poker, but if all the plays are that bad i am happy to put up with some shitty graphics to make money :>) and UB they are much better players.
Thanks for everyones input.

you still are not telling us how big your reraise was, and how many chips it was in relation to his stack / the pot.
w/o that information your statement "raised then went over the top of his reraise. He has to know that if i have a pair that i am ahead or even if i have ak or aq he is risking most of his stack on a coin flip" is irrelevant.
i'd call off 100 to win 10000 with any two cards against AA every time. -
party poker isn't bad at all, i have been playin there for about a year and u just have to take time to understand the site inside and out and all its tendencies...i don't play any HE cash games cuz u can really get screwed but PLO is very profitable if you sit and be patient and wait for the nuts and nut draws cuz donks will pay you off very well...mtts and sngs are great on party once you know how to play them. got look over the 1 or two or 10 bad beats cuz if u don't tilt and stay with a solid party poker gameplan u can really make serious money in the longrun.

Depends on what "bad" means. Are you going to suffer more weird bad beats because some people on that site make very strange (i.e., stupid) plays - yes. But keep playing there and you'll love those bad plays. Those bad plays have allowed me to withdraw $4,700 from party in the last 30 days, and I play sparingly because I have a "real" job. I'd say 40 hours or so of play, at the 3/6 and 5/10 NL tables, single-tabling. Trust me, there is variance because of those players, but it has to work in your favor in the long run. This morning, I had KK UTG (and about $800 stack) in a 6-handed 5/10 NL, and raised to 30. Two callers, then the BB (with about $1,000) raises to $300. Seems like a big raise for the only hand that beats me, so I push. He called with 22. Amazingly my KK held up (made trips on the turn even). So bad, yes, but profitable.

PP is the largest fish infested minefield on the net!

No doubt party has the worst players. You will still run in to fish anywhere you play though. Party rakes harder and has worse structures for their MTT's and SNG's though.
p.s. how can you not like UB's graphics? -
ubs graphics rock
all right , so you are saying that you like or don't like a site based on how much money you win. Aren't you the one in control of your mouse and computer buttons?
I find that when I lose moneys it is because I make bad plays, give people odds to outdraw me, let somebody slow play the hell out of me, am on major tilt ( you know when every suited connector looks like it is going to bust out the raise and the reraise in front of you.. ) and every now and then i get disgustingly one - two outer bad beat for example big blind with A3 suited my favorite.. MIN raised to me call flop comes A33 turning a jack both players getting them all in there rivers a jack Aj has bigger boat fucking sucks just happened might pull my hair out and get a bag of oreos some Ben and Jerrys become fat and ugly and play on line poker until I run out of all my money never finish college and become a degenerate loser..
OH SORRY THIS IS ABOUT YOU
Anyway, sounds to me like maybe you should analyze your style of play.
I do understand how some of the computer graphics can get on your nerves
I LIKE playing party poker sit and gos because people are idiots and yeah you do get some bad beats but in the long run I probably have made more money on this site then others.. however I don't play on that site a lot because I really hate their graphics. Poker rooms shuffle and deal sounds like a dog panting around then table and then letting out a fart when the hand has been completely dealt...
DAMN I am done with this post.. babbling way too much.
