  1. f JJ and f his ranking. i hope he is chased out of the online poker community along with all the other cheaters.

sketchy1 is an instructor at PocketFives Training . To get more of his advice and to watch his training videos, click here.

  2. come on now people, they have access to everything from when he started the tournament on a cpu, if he switched to a different machine, ip addresses, basically anything they want. when you install their software, what do you think you are installing??

they arent doing this because of a couple people on a forum emailed them and complained someone cheated and said "well, i guess he cheated, lets punish him"......, they clearly took their time, investigated the matter, and made it right
  3. If this is true, I agree that it sets a great precedent and is an enormous victory for the online poker community. The fact is, party poker couldn't possibly care less about JJ's financial status. Do you think Party Poker has received multiple emails about this issue? Probably. Do you think members of their support have monitored the reaction in the poker community seen in forums such as this one? I'm assuming the answer is yes. Party Poker cares much more about their bottom line than JJ's. If the message is a positive one then people will feel safe and secure to play on their site, both existing players and most importantly, new players. If the message was PP's hand are tied, and theyre not willing to take an aggressive stance, well I'd venture to say there would be a ripple effect that lessens the perceived integrity of online poker.

For the people who honestly think JJ keeping his 140k that he received as a result of lying and cheating is more important than maintaining integrity in the online game, well you lost me. Again this isn't about 140k or if the punishment fits the crime, it's about the message that PartyPoker is sending to the community: which is, that integrity matters, ethics matter, and the consequences of people thinking that widespread cheating and corruption exists w/o punishment being more dangerous than the actual process of the cheating itself.
  4. He could not have withdrawn the money right after the tournament. There are restrictions on the amount of money you can with draw at any given time ($10k on neteller and $12k on IGMPay), and there is a waiting period so that they can approve the withdrawl.
  5. story is absolutely legit...i emailed party to ask about the matter and have them confirm it

    Dear Ryan,

Thank you for reporting or inquiring about the $500k Guaranteed
Tournament that took place on February 12th, 2006.

After the tournament concluded our investigations team conducted an
investigation into two of the accounts that had participated in the
tournament (ABlackCar and JJProdigy). After an in-depth investigation, the
investigations team; in conjunction with the poker manager, legal and
management, made a determination that, based on the evidence, the two
accounts had played in the $500k Tournament from the same IP address and
    both from the same computer.

A decision was made to disqualify both accounts from the tournament and
redistribute the prize money accordingly. One of the accounts placed
1st in the tournament while the other placed 2,162nd (out of the money).
In addition, both accounts have been suspended and will no longer be
    allowed to play at PartyPoker.com.

Each player that placed in the money has been moved up one spot,
including the player that had previously finished 401st (one spot out of the
money). Although there is no perfect way to rectify this situation, we
feel that this was the best way to redistribute the money.

We appreciate the diligence with which our players help to keep our
    tables safe and friendly.

If you have any further questions, comments or concerns, please contact
us at alerts@PartyPoker.com and we will be more than glad to assist
    you.

  6. P.S.
This is 100% confirmed. Got a similar email from party after inquiring about this.

  7. You should be chased out of the forum. Who are you? Nobody cares what you have to say. GG sketchy1
  8. I wonder if he cheats in $1000 dollar and $525 dollar SNG's too.....
  9. This is all like a bad episode of 'Tilt'

I'm glad everyone who cashed got the higher prize money though.

I've got nothing good or bad to say about JJ but partypoker got this one right.
  10. Good luck in court JJ
  11. and you really think we care about you and ur 15 posts? who are YOU
  12. The party client doesn't allow you to open 2 instances of it with 2 different accounts. So they could not have both started and ended on the same computer.
  13. But unless the 2 accounts were at the same table and they did something fishy, there is really no evidence that JJ cheated other than his admission to playing "his grandma's" account on the forum. It is not against the rules for 2 people in the same household to play a single tournament. So you tell me, what is the evidence that he played 2 accounts other than the admissions on the forum?
  14. and if there were 3500 last week and only like 2000 this week, are we to assume that 1500+ entries are from people going twice? I mean, if there were 200 people doing this at 3 entries per person that would still only lose 600 players. Besides, as someone who plays about two of these a month, I'd rather not have the multiple entries in there anyway.
  15. did you see the playing history of ABlackCar from turnament reporter? If we looked at everything in this situation on its own then maybe there isn't anything too incriminating, but we don't live in a fishbowl. When you take all the evidence and tie it together you'd have to be blind to not see what was going on.
  16. Got to admit I feel for the guy -- just like i felt for Pete Rose -- still party poker stepping is a huge step in keeping/making online poker more legit.

What's even worse than what this guy did is his "explanation?" The grandma excuse . . . please. If he just admitted he played two accounts I don't think everybody would be so pissed? Its still absolutely cheating -- not as bad as chip dumping or outright collusion, but still cheating.

I know I'm new to P5 -- but I would like to here from Adam and the other people in charge of ranking players and this site.
  17. if 200 people were doing it (highly doubtful IMHO) but if 200 people were playing 3 accounts, wouldnt they only lose 400 players, considering they would still play 1 account

  18. Yes it will but the MAC address will be different
  19. I'm saying if those people just didn't bother playing because they felt they needed the extra accounts because of the size of the field, whatever. Maybe they see what happened here and they just move to another site's big tourny because tey can get away with it there.

Whatever, however many entries they lose due to people not buying in twice is better anyway. If those people just play one account now or if they play none, it's better off.
  20. Honestly I have been pondering thoughts about this whole situation and have concluded that... A) What JJ did what dishonest and lacks integrity. B) After the heat turned up on him he realized that what he did could cause a serious backlash on him and his reputation. In the heat if the moment came up with a very BAD story to hopefully get people off his back a little bit. C) Even before this came about I'm pretty sure that JJ is feeling pretty low about all of this (as well as Mantis, though he shouldnt). There are few things that you can take away from a man that hurt worse then your Honor or Integrity and even with 140k to console you, you are still dealing with a tarnished reputation that will take a VERY LONG time to rebuild.

Now to the people of this forum that believe what JJ did was ok and that taking his money is WRONG or whatever. I hope that you are only making this judgement due to who it is that was caught and you dont really believe this is all OK.. Personally I think that party poker should not only look at JJ but also some of the other players that defended JJ and his actions. Did they also play 2 accounts that day and they just didnt win 140k? I would love to see a extensive check on this tournament .

Now also to the people of this forum please listen.. We have all gone far enough with all this and it needs to be put to rest.. I am almost sure (though I dont know him) that JJ not only feels like crap from losing 140k but he has also lost most of the respect that he worked so hard to obtain.. He is an incredible player with great skills who made a mistake and in the heat of the moment made another bad decision to try and mask the situation.. POINT BEING HE MADE A MISTAKE!!!

Am I the only one who wants to get back to poker and move on and away from "Days of our Lives"? So with that said JJ GL to you sir and hopefully you have learned a valueable lesson from all of this.. You are an amazing talent and I'm sure that many of us wish the best if you have indeed learned your lesson.. Now CAN WE PLAESE MOVE ON?

    GL ALL Holdmfoldm
  21. FUCK cheaters JJ got what he deserved why the heck would such a pro player need to cheat? i mean honestly wat a piece of scumbag i dont care how much respect he deserved--he just lost mine and i bet alot of others. F cheaters.

  22. If you play 2 accounts in a tourney from the same computer you are fucked.
Play your 2 accounts, from same IP but on different computers and you are fine.

Since JJ knew that both accounts played off the exact same computer he should have known he was in for trouble. I always wondered why many of the players here are ALWAYS posting their results when they score.
Sad how kids my age can't keep it in their pants and keep it to themselves.
    Lesson learned.
  23. I am extremely confused as to why JJ was given $10,500 for another tourney...did they find that another player double accounted???

  24. Its good to see JJ ranked and Pete Rose in the Hall of Fame.......oh wait a second....
