  1. I just started trying these steps out, i am starting with the minis. I took 3rd in step 5 last night. I wondered if any one had any tips or strategies that deviated from normal sng strategy (adam's article). So if you are a great sng player or master of the steps i would love to hear from you.

  2. I play the steps (mini and regular) occassionly and have had some success - I usually buy in at the $55 level. There are a couple of things that i have noticed.

At the lower levels, play is not much different than the typical low buy-in SNGs (tight-agressive is the way to go) The table might have a few extremely weak-tight players - those are the guys to pick on. You also might see a couple of people that are too aggressive for their own good and will double you up when you get a premium hand - simple traps and pushing premium hands will work well. When you get close to the payouts, push hard against any sign of weakness. No one will want to bust out just on the bubble after having worked through several steps. Put the decisions on them, escpecially if you are a big stack.

As you work you way up to the last levels, so much depends on your playing style and the playing style of others at your table. A general rule of thumb that I use is tight-aggressive play and I loosen up a lot once the payouts are at least a replay of the current level. If you have a couple of very aggresive players left, still play tight and let them knock each other out or pay you off and move on to the next step.

At the final step (money level) - play your normal style. There will be a few guys that have obviously worked their way up from the smallest levels and have never played for "so much money". It will show. They will play scared and will fold to almost any raise or re-raise unless they have the nuts or very close to it.

In summary - don't alter your game too much and punish the tight players that are just waiting for others to get knocked out so they can move into the money. I, also, never play more than one table at the higher levels so that I can pay close attention to all my oppenents playing styles and tendancies.

    Good luck
