I just finished my call (took a grand total of 3 minutes and 14 seconds). Although I'm from NC (not exactly a big gambling state) the staffer who answered my call said that he had received 13 calls today ----- 13 -------- (although there are 2 other people answering the phones in Sen. Dole's office and that doesn't include their numbers).
I was expecting a MUCH bigger turnout for this. Guess nobody from the south actually cares about big brother infringing on our rights.
We have 2 hours left to make this call. Get your friends, family members, grandmother and ex-girlfriends to call NOW (along with anybody else you can find).
Based on response from others and different threads on p5's today, I gather that this might not be as bad a turnout as I feared. Still an hour and a half left - still enough time to get your grandmother to call. -
Yo, I have been trying to call for 2 hrs now and the phones remain busy. I cant even get through, but I live in IL and so there is probably a lot of calling action around here. Anyone else getting a busy signal?

there are 2 senators from each state too.

I guess thats only NC because I already called twice and it took me over fifty minutes to get on the line both times.
but then again, the gov said online poker is banned in washington state anyways even though it was a no on the bill. -
i'm from NC and Senator Burr's office said they had "been receiving calls on this all day" ...
-
Check out this post that I just made about the response so far:

BUSY BUSY BUSYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY

I spoke with Senator Kerry's office and the person I spoke to said he personally had taken 178 calls on the subject today and that others had taken calls as well. As expected the Senator has no stance on the subject yet.

Same here I cannot get through!

Hey, guys, if you're having issues with busy signals, call your Senators' offices directly before the day is out:

I got right through to Sen. Burr's office and spoke with the staffer there. I was 4-tabling at the time so I didnt spend a lot of time chatting with her about the volume of calls, but based on her tone she sounded like she had heard plenty of messages just like mine. I put through a call direct to Dole's office as well. And for any of you that didnt make the call today, you can call anytime, just look up the # for your Sen. and punch the numbers.

LOL! But that is exactly the sort of impression we want. What was once some piece of paper to her now has life.
Senator's phone numbers, etc:
