  1. I have been buying in directly to step 2. I play about 10 hours of poker per week so I don't really have time to grind all the way up from step 1. From the play so far in these sng's It seems like this is the best way to try to qualify for the PCA. I am really hoping to qualify this year.

I'm in for about $324 so far and am willing to throw another $1,000 towards these steps. What are other strategies/results so far?

    My Current Tickets:

    Step 5: 1
    Step 4: 2
    Step 3: 1
    Step 2: 1
  2. I've been buying into the step 2s as well. It seems like once you get to step 4 you get a different level of opponent. I've seen alot of the same people buying into step 4s that buy into step 6s. I have one step 4 ticket - ready to use on the weekend when everyone will be drinking! GL
  3. I have started at step 1 and have invested about $140. My strat has been jut to play REALLY tight.

    My Current Tickets:

    Step 4: 1
    Step 3: 1
    Step 2: 4
  4. I played my 2nd Step 1 two nights ago. I won a step 1, 2, and 3(entire donkament HH posted in PD) within 2 hoursish. I am on Step 4 now.
  5. I'm in for about $50 of Step 1 and I've worked it into 2 Step 4 tickets. I haven't lost a Step 2 or 3 yet. I'm playing fairly tight ABC poker and it seems like everyone knocks each other out so I don't have to do too much. Easy so far but I know it'll change when I get around to playing my Step 4 tickets.
  6. I am in for 500 fpps and I won $1000 on Step 6.

I think I might go back and try to work up the ladder again.

I had a slight advantage in the bigger steps in that, if people looked me up my stats on pokerstars are absolute garbage. I mostly play on Full Tilt where I have much better stats, but people don't really think about that.

People made some plays towards me thinking I was a donk and I was able to exploit them really well.

I found bad players, though, all the way up through Step 4. Step 5 and 6 is where you really need your A game. Step 4 is still an "exploit the terrible play" step, imo.
  7. 500 fpps to 1,000 cash. Thats nice work. Well done sir.

  8. For $7 im at step 4 and just missed out on step 5 by being third - still get another shot at 4 though. Playing really tight as A) have been skint for past 6 mths so cant deposit again but B) this is most +EV way to play in these I think as there are so many donks. Play really tight and you should get top 4 at least and then open out - has been workin for me - Mind you might be cos my stats on stars are total shite.

PS PLay at 4 still seems quite poor and nervy.
  9. i got lucky and played against some very weak/tight players or weak/loose players in steps 4,5, and 6. I managed to get 3rd in step 6 by playing tight and letting everyone else take each other out. I realize that the higher steps aren't always going to be filled with weak players, but as time passes more weak players will get higher level tickets making the upper steps much softer.
  10. Its good to hear people having success starting from the bottom. I'm looking forward to getting a few shots at step 6.

  11. I have invested about $180 and 1,500 FPP. Started with Step 1's but now going to Step 2.

    My Current Tickets:

    Step 5: 1
    Step 3: 1
    Step 2: 1

I have been going straight to Step 2 - Step 1 is crazy with people going all-in with 3rd pair. I had a Step 4 but lost kk vs QQ (Q on turn). GL to all who are going for it.

QUESTION: Has anyone who started at Step 1/2 and reached Step 6 going for the 2 table, 3 package Step 6 or the 6A? Just curious..
