I'm not sure if anyone cares, but I enjoy reading other peoples' personal challenges.
That being said, I have decided to take a couple bucks to dedicate to limit cash games. Traditionally, I am only a SNG or MTT player mainly because I enjoy the thrill of competition that comes with the tournament style game.---Regardless, I suck (no pun intended) at cash games and desperately need to improve.
I want to find a game that is a little better on the frustration meter than my typical MTTs. Limit has fish, but the variance is much lower....
I chose limit for now simply because that fits my style better. So I chose a similar structure to Fox's 'rolling bankroll' (from BR management article), and decided to begin at 1/2 limit with 200 bucks. Yes this is a low number of buyins, but I could replace the 200 and that allowed me to 4 table starting with 50 bucks each.
So here are my number goals at which I will move up or back down (my ceiling and my floor) for each level. You could use these as a guide line and mold them to your style. If anyone is interested I will explain why I chose each number.
CEILING Floor
1/2 --------- $800 {200 BBs @ 2/4} --- N/A
2/4 --------- $2100 {350 BBs @ 3/6} --- $600 {150 BBs @ 2/4}
3/6 --------- $3200 {400 BBs @ 4/8} --- $1500 {250 BBs @ 3/6}
4/8 --------- $4500 {450 BBs @ 5/10} --- $2800 {350 BBs @ 4/8}
5/10 --------- $8000 {500 BBs @ 8/16} --- $3500 {350 BBs @ 5/10}
8/16 --------- $11000 {550 BBs @ 10/20} --- $6400 {400 BBs @ 8/16}
10/20 --------- $16500 {550 BBs @ 15/30} --- $9000 {450 BBs @ 10/20}
15/30 --------- $24000 {600 BBs @ 20/40} --- $15000 {500 BBs @ 15/30}
20/40 --------- $30000 {600 BBs @ 25/50} --- $20000 {500 BBs @ 20/40}
Okay, if I get to this point.....I might have to pull my hair out because if I'm taking money out to play other games and pay bills....this is gonna be a grind. My goal is to be here by June. (if I quit my job, improved a lot and added 6 hours to each day, I'd make it). I haven't set any time frames yet.
These goals are definitely attainable but I may stay at the 5/10 to 10/20 area a bit longer than these numbers show because I think my BBs/100hands will really suffer beyond this.
If you are curious here are the quick numbers for the next few levels:
25/50 --------- $36000 {600 BBs @ 30/60} --- $25000 {500 BBs @ 25/50}
30/60 --------- $62500 {625 BBs @ 50/100} -- $31500 {525 BBs @ 30/60}
50/100 -------- $97500 {650 BBs @ 75/150} -- $55000 {550 BBs @ 50/100}
75/150 -------- $104000 {650 BBs @ 80/160} -- $82500 {550 BBs @ 75/150}
80/160 -------- $130000 {650 BBs @ 100/200} - $88000 {550 BBs @ 80/160}
100/200 ------- $195000 {650 BBs @ 150/300} - $110000 {550 BBs @ 100/200}
For what it's worth,

Beau, i'd be interested in watching you play...i did something like this for a while and grinded my $50 from level to level to an eventual $1,500 before needing to cashout most of it to pay for school ....
WHere will you be playing?
Good luck, let me know how it goes, and hopefully ill catch some of it.
