phil ivey tournament play

    I have established watching Phil play that he will never win a NL Hold em tournament with more than 1000 people. I just don't think he has the desire. I truly believe I will win a live NL HE tournament with >1000 people before he will. Not at all saying I'm better than him, he simply doesn't care. Flame away

    I hear many stories of uber balla's not caring about tourneys and just coming late and leaving early or not showing up at all.

    I think Phil is an amazing mtt player but he makes so much more playing cash then he ever will playing mtt's I think he just shows up in tourneys on ftp because he is a FT pro and needs to be seen in some mtt's?

    Either way he is a sick mofo.

    I'd probably be willing to bet money that ivey WILL win a tourney in his life w/>1000 people. WHY? Prop bets my friend. That... and desire to prove something down the line.

    LOL @ this post. You know why your gonna win a live tourney with over 1000 ppl before Ivey??

    Because he plays ONE every year. He only plays the biggest events and most of the wpt events taht are 10k buy ins that he plays dont have over 1000 people. It would be a waste of time for him to play smaller buy ins your right, so what point are you trying to make?

    besides wsop small buy in tourneys what live mtt with a decent buy in even gets over 1,000 entrants??

    Well let's not exclude this and the fact I haven't played since...
    The Full Tilt Poker website has been running a tournament series where players can participate in freerolls and win World Poker Tour prize packages. The latest winner is twenty-four year old maintenance worker coralreefers. He has only been playing for a short time, a little longer than a year, but managed to win a large prize package of $12,500.

    this. the prop bets will be the only reason he would enter a <$10K tourney.

    This has got to be one of the worst threads I've ever seen. Titantom is right Ivey will most likely just one tournament with >1000 people a year. And I will still bet that he wins one with >1000 before you do.

    the first 7 times ivey made the cash in a wpt event he final tabled everyone...obviously he gets bored in the early stages of a tournament but once he gets deep he turns into a beast...he will definetly get a win in a 1k event soon because of the prop bets that everyones mentioned as well
