Yo & Hello Every1,
For the past 2 years I have been studying MTTs 24/7, basically with every waking moment. I’ve been submerged in MTTs for ~4years total, back and forth between side games. Lately I’ve been really focued on MTTs, mainly late stages, but no noticeable signs of leaps->progression…
As of now my game has been stuck at a plateau for ~12 months and as much as I study videos, constatly rail top players, and am, over and over, always running hands & situations thru my head and scanning forums, It seems like these tools arent really helping me to root-out the major leaks in MY game, that are holding me back from progressing my game to the next level.
I think about poker 24/7, its all I have. But recently have been going to sleep (on my plateau),frustrated everynight, due to lack of progression. I feel like it would work wonders on my confidence & perspective if some1 on a higher mtt level, could take a few minutes of their time to help me get thru this wall I've recently hit. I would be very willing to make it worth the while , and for those whom are are too busy I very much understand. I realize these comments are a dime a dozen, but I feel my previous results back- up everything that I have previously stated and are more than an unrealisitic gauge on my play. I lack MTT perspective and my patience seems to be dwindling (at 1 time my patience was TOPTOP). If anyone out there is listening and feel they can really help someone in my position, w/ coaching or even a simple piece of advice I would be very greatful.. to say the least.. Thanks. -
It's called luck. Some people are fortunate and some people are not. The media hypes this shit up that poker is a game of skill, and sure it takes some skill to understand certain concepts and play the game correctly, but when when you get a tournament where there is 2000 people and 1400 people have the same understanding of the game you do its going to come down to the luck of the draw. i mean shit i had my wife play a game for me cause i was late for work and she cashed for me. Lucky.

way to long to reasd right now, i'm wasted and have cklassass in lesss then 6 hours................... i don't know what ur articly is about, sdorrry.
-
Looking at ur scores things could definitely be worse. I'd say just keep grinding and learning and you'll be fine. The hard will work pay off.
P.S.: Where are some good spots to play live in Sacramento? Especially for tournies.. -
Run better and suckout more...that's the only way to win this game. Take a huge 3bet risk and get er in there and suck out Ax vs QQ. U'd be surprised how many FTs you make then.
Otherwise, keep min cashing like I do and wait for ur day to run well. -
Make your mistakes on the side of aggression.

I've just recently started focusing more attention on MTTs. I've got some work to do, in particular not letting fear of busting near the bubble dictate how I play. Next time I play, I'm going to avoid looking at the "Lobby" altogether and just play my game. A right decision is a right decision no matter how close you are to cashing, or how close you are to the next pay out. I think too many people (myself included) concern themselves with those things and stop playing fearless poker and miss out on a lot of pots in the process.

I wrote a blog about this the other day. -
Well, I'm not a top player by any stretch, still a couple of things jump out at me.
1) You've been playing for 4 years, so you already know this. When you have improved and when it shows in your results are 2 different things. You can win for awhile being horrible, you can improve your game, and have the results lag behind.
2) I am a person who overthinks things. Take this out there example, and I'll tie it back. I work with a woman who overthinks everything when it involves relationships (dealing with people). If I don't say hi to her in the morning, she'll dwell on it for hours, wondering what's wrong. Even if I'm running late it bothers her that someone is mad at her. She blows things out of proportion that aren't there.
Now, back to poker. If you are thinking of stuff all the time, you may blow things out of proportion. Some is luck, some bad things just happen in poker. Some things should be analyzed, some shouldn't. I really wonder if, to get to the next level, you may just need a completely different hobby. Find a book series to get engrossed in. Buy all the Seasons of Lost and try to figure out what is going on. Just find something else so that you don't think about poker 24/7. This might be just the trick you need to improve your game. -
