  1. i know that everyone says they would like to win the tourny, but I find that often I stare at the screen where players are getting knocked out and wondering how much longer it is to cash, rather than paying attention to what is going on at my table, This can't be good for my game. Do a lot of people do that or is this just a common mistake for bad players like me? I'm sure You have to be aware of where the cash is, so you can adjust your play accordingly, but is this just one of those things that seperates cashes to FT's?
  2. min cash ftw
  3. If bubbling the payout bothers you, you shouldn't be playing that tourney in the first place. (big wcoops and whatnot obv dont apply here)

  4. obv your supposed to play just to get in the money.........

  5. if your very shortstacked I can see the logic in wanting to do this. Also if you are playing out of your bankroll, ie the sunday million after sat'ing into it with $2, i guess it makes sense.

But if you are at all serious about making any decent money dont even think about it.
  6. I took a lot of time off and just came back to poker, I started to set goals thoughout a tourny. Once I reach the 1st goal I set my sights on the next and so on.
For example. If a MTT pays out 100 places

1st goal is to make the money
    2nd goal is top 50
    3rd goal is final table
    4th goal is to win

Everybody plays to win, but you cant win every tournament. Setting the goals has helped me cash in more MTT's lately.
  7. play to win obv

  9. Im in one of those situations now.

Im in the warm up with a 8bb stack. Another 120 players to the money. I sattied in through the steps for 60fpps. The min cash would boost my bankroll by ALOT. Should i play for the win or play to cash??
  10. u should play a hand soon or else u arent gonna cash or win

    exactly
  12. 50 to go
  13. lol at the Herm Edwards video, when i saw this post i was gonna do exactly the same thing....hello, you play to win the game, you don't enter tournaments to double your money, you play for the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow

  14. It seems to make sense, i know. I find that I'm often sitting in the top 8-12% of the field mid way through and then something happens.. I guess I'm trying to cash at that point, but by the time I make the cash, I'm short on chips and left with very little options to play the way I should. How many BB's before I should start to get looser. Is 20 the guidline?

  15. I make it a goal to cash cuz I like to be rewarded for playing well enough for 3 hrs...then I go for FT, then win. But by all means don't miss out on opportunities if you have to go with it. U'll get over trying to cash once u get some bigger scores under ur belt...then the min cashes in the 26s and stuff will just drive u nuts all to hell.
  16. Just make the best possible decision you can each hand, taking into account all info available and unavailable. Try not to let "cashing" or "the win" take you away from making the best decisions.

  17. I just enjoy watching half the field getting eliminated in the first hour. I

  18. a lot of pros say you should not play to cash, but play to win. that is RIDICULOUS. always play to cash. once you cash, you've done your job, you've replenished your buy-in, so you're pretty much freerolling.

often times when i cash i just start shoving willy nilly
  19. pocket KK on the button two all in's before you.... on the bubble.....? call?

  20. i play for top 3 personally and once i get there i play FTW

essentially the same concept as playing to get 1st tho
  21. well normally i just play my cards the way i feel i should. Unless my stack is so small that a double up wont do me any good. In that instance I sit and hope. Yesterday in the 20 1+1 I had 2 shove positions and played like a bubble puss. (could not imagine playing solid for four hours and have no reward). I was able to climb back and finished 19th which I should have finished higher but I fd up and slow played aq with a AAK board turn came 10 filled 1010 villian. Today I was sitting with 99 with about 8 bb left. Villian opened with J7 off and was committed versus my hand. I pushed J hit and had to wait to determine that I finished 585 and 585 paid. In the 125k.

2 cashes on the bubble both different methods.
  22. If cashing is going to mean that much to you don't play that tourney. You are playing too high.

I hope for your sake you don't believe what you just wrote. Do you know how easy it is to take advantage of people that do this?

sure you can "attack the bubble", but why do such a thing when you can kick back and get guaranteed money, sometimes for as cheap as only half your stack??? the pros are smart and all but i think they got it wrong by risking their stack here

the guy i respect most is chad "little hold em" batista, who said he open mucked pocket queens once to preserve the bubble. after he said that, i like had an epiphany and open mucked KK at the bubble for weeks

This is neither a level nor an act of comprehension.

  29. go watch pearl jammer play, that should answer your question. imo this is a true false question, you always play to win... T. Never leave chips on the table.

  30. I'd rather bubble than miss an opportunity to get more chips
