  1. I had never mixed the two till the other day but am currently stoned out of my mind playign a SNG, 6 left and im sitting there with 5140. tim_dog is there too. Anyways, im thinking more now than i usually do "he could have....my odds are.....pot odds?....." I swear i even saw that J coming on the river pre-flop to win.

Anyways, anyone else ever do this?
  2. I suppose I see more stoners than anyone else since I moved down here to Mexico City 8 years ago. I finally had to draw the line with a couple of buddies of mine who kept coming over late on weekends (I have cable tv) just to watch the Star Trek intro and try to figure out which white dot was gonna turn into The Enterprise.

But since then they've found other forms of entertainment that don't include bothering my family. Namely, going around asking everyone if the color purple is the same to you as it is to a color-blind animal.

Getting back on topic tho, I would say that it would probably be cool for your poker game up to a point. But the moment your left leg decides to get up and excuse itself from the room, is the moment you need to turn the computer off.

  3. LOL @ Star Trek & Yay for off-topic conversations!

  4. I'm pretty awful when I play stoned. Countless times I've passed out at the table only to be woken up by "Spudt24 you have 15 seconds to act" or just an empty table cuz everyone left. My favorite story is when i had 77, board came X7X. Dude in early position bet out and I compltely missed the "call" button opting to accidentally hit "Fold and Show" my set. Had the table in tears. GG me.
  5. A bit of smoke helps my playing when I go on tilt. Overall, its no help, I make more fts sober than when I am high. In a home game it could give a person that plays lots of poker high a advantage if the entire table is smoking and not experienced playing with a buzz . I think gank is the authority on this subject.
  6. Can I just make the point that this topic comes up EVERY SINGLE WEEK. Maybe if you guys stopped getting stoned you would have the mental clarity and capacity to remember what was written just a few short days ago. Then (approaches soapbox) let me say that getting stoned is just not a good idea. Never. Even if it does miraculously improve your poker game (which I absolutely don't believe for a second!!!) it is just not good for your health, which means in the long run it is certainly a -EV play for your poker game. Now, someone give me a ladder to get down from my soapbox.

  7. I been smoking weed every day for 16 years considering i been playing poker for 13 guess i dont know if my game is better being not stoned

  9. this has never been posted before
  10. Personally i play terrible when I'm stoned. I'm way to passive. But luckyshades, how do you know if it does or doesn't help someone play? You say you absolutely don't believe for a second. Who the hell are you. I know plenty of people tha play much better when they're stoned. I'm 99% sure Gank plays high.
  11. No one is talking about health moron, we're talking about the sweet leaf.

  12. If I make it to the point in my life where I die cause I've smoked too much, who cares? Takes 10 years off my life? Great, those years blow anyways.

  13. This is in response to Luckyshades remark about the negative EV associated with pot smoke. I think that it can be debated whether or not the actual Physical damage caused by the smoke itself is more of a long term health risk than say, extreme amounts of stress over a long period of time. I am confident that in the coming years the medical community will view stress as the single largest health problem facing this country. It can be known to cause almost every ailment man can get and aggravate many existing conditions to the point of them being lifethreatening. In conclusion if it is helping to reduce your stress level considerably then i dont see how you can say its more harmful than not smoking... lol

Don't make factual statements that you can't prove.

  15. very bad idea!
  16. Pyramid, I couldn't agree more. Stress is the #1 killer. Weed reduces stress. Enough said. It's no more harmful then chocolate, red meat, breathing in this smog infested air, etc.
  17. I didn't know people even played sober ??????????!?!??!?!?!
    This happens?

oohh wait playing stoned ?....it helps me play very good especia....wait what are we talking about?

ohh yea thats right.....chocodiles and grape soda are the best breakfast foods...damn i am hungry

my mouth is dry as hel....wait i am in a hand ...shiiiittttt i forgot...
  19. there are no known associated long term health risks associated with weed...which is more than you can say about most the medicines we take and the all the other crap we're exposed to everyday.

ohioschwa hits the nail on the head. i think it depends on the state that you normally play poker in [i.e. state-dependent learning]
  20. I played stoned all the time, mostly cuz I'm always stoned unless I'm at work or class or on a date, which is actually kind of sad and why I'm trying to make some changes in my life. But as far as poker goes, I used to suck stoned, but now I've played that way so much, I think I'm adapted to it. On the rare occassion I decide to play sober, I find my attention wanders the whole time.

I don't think I'd want to be stoned for live play, because I get shaky when I'm nervous sometimes, and pot only exacerbates that.

FYI, I'm smoking a bowl right now, while in the top 10 on stars deepstack. Yea me!

  22. if being stoned puts you in a better mindset, it is +EV.....i play stoned all the time..

  23. Geez guys, I expected a LOT more flaming than that!! Re: Pyramid, certainly your argument is not new, and many people subscribe to those theories. Not me, but I'm not a medical expert. What I would say, and what I'm sure you know, is that weed is extremely addictive, and any addiction - be it gambling, alcohol, drugs, sex ... oh wait ... cancel that last one .. are dangerous. I'll ask my good friend from high school how his poker game is going ... oh that's right ... he is in a mental institution and can't really play poker thanks to smoking weed, or enjoy a normal life for that matter. I actually am a big supporter of medicial marijuana for what it's worth.

  24. There's no way in the world he's in a mental institution due to weed.
  25. Man i used to get stoned but i thought screw it i aint ending up in a mental home. Recent pitcures showing the damage that cannabis does to the brain is the same as that in schizophrenia.
  26. sure, hit the bong, do a few shots, and play Doyle B.
  27. I play stoned live and online. Works for me ;-)
