  1. Below is a hand I played yesterday in a little $7.50 turbo on Stars. 23 are left from 1069. My question is not about how I played my hand. I think that was std given I have 10BBs.

My question instead is how the villain (cobra7073) played the hand: Are you calling my shove w/88 in that spot with 34BBs? Two hands before I had won a showdown w/AQ and I was probably playing a bit tighter than much of the table so do you always gamble there with 88?

I'd say my range would be perceived to be something like 99-QQ and of course AK and maybe AQ. If the guy thought I was more LAG they might add in some more b'way card combos but against all of those he's still flipping. Thoughts anyone?

  2. that is the easiest call ever with 88 sir. esp in the bigger levels. In smaller levels respect shoves maybe a little more, most donkeys just limp hands, when they shove they do got goods more often.

However with u shoving 8 big blinds, this is a snap call with 88 bro. clearly. If u have 88 in this spot and were him u should call every time. With 8 big blinds u should be shoving pretty wide here. I see its short handed too. u should shove any ace here or any kq kj k10 k9 suited, anything thats pretty with 8 big blinds here. 9 10 suited shove, its short handed and ur very low, and ppl still have to respect ur shoves

    Love your range....Standard
  4. If you're playing it right, you're basically shoving any 2 cards here.

Therefore, 88 is crushing your range. I'd make that call (except I'd reship) with pretty much any ace, any pair, and KQ. Mayybbbe KJ, but thats close.

As the post above says, the lower buyin turbos are usually a bit tighter, since the players are less aware of stack sizes. I may tighten may range a tiny bit from what I stated above, but not a whole lot.
