  1. I had an interesting situation in step 3 where I raised 5x utg the second hand of the SNG with QQ. There was a caller shortly after me, then a known player just moves all in over the top of us. Should this be an instant call with Qs? Should I really be playing anything but KK/AA preflop for all my chips this early in this satty? Spots 3-5 get to play again in this step. 1-2 obviously move on to the next level.

Note: I folded and still made the top 5.
  2. why raise 5x if youre gonna fold to a shove? Wouldn't 3x achieve same thing? Those extra 2 BBs arent gonna get AK to fold.
  3. I have been playing these with some good success but my question is aren;t u gunning for top two u can always fold-shove your way to fifth if u were just gonna try to play and then get the same ticket why play

I am All in here all day and load up the next one if he hass KK AA or AK and hits (what if he had JJ)
  4. can't fold
  5. PopperHead, lets say you are playing 5 or 6 of these and have them built up. It makes sense to me to get to the top 5 then go for the top spot instead of busting out early on likely coin flips or domination. Playing to outlast vs playing to dominate early on. Considering all the money is still distributed pretty evenly. I would agree with you if i was in step 4 or above. Thanks for the input though. I would just like to see how people handle these satellites early on.

  6. I typically raise 3 to 5x with big pairs. I chose 5x that time.

  7. well arbitrarily choosing between 3 and 5bbs rly doesn't answer my question. My question is still that if youre gonna open UTG and fold to a shove this early why would you open 5X? What is it that made you choose 5 instead of 3?

I snapcall here all day whether i opened for 3 or 5 btw, but if i was planning on folding im obv going to mkake my raise smaller. Just seems like you should put some thought into why you 'typically raise 3 to 5x'
  8. If he is a good player and he knows that you are the type who might fold QQ in a spot like this, he can and will be shoving way lighter than KK/AA/AK if he thinks your 3bet call % is really low in this type of situation.

Vs a random this would be a much closer call imo in a satellite.
  9. Raise less pre-flop.

Also this 'known' player will know your range is v. tight UTG when making a 5x raise.

Personally I think this is a fold vs someone you recognise as being competant. And if he is competant he probably isnt reshoving on you with anything but AK/QQ+. Having said that though most players arent this good and may shove lower PP. Vs an uknown I call in an SNG, but in a Step its closer to a fold.
