  1. Okay, so here is a problem I've had throughout my poker career. I play decent most of the time (or so I'd like to think), but when I really need the money I play 10x better.

Last summer I had about 100$ in my account from my original 50$ deposit and I got fired from my summer job after just a few days, so I deicded to play poker seriously and see how I could do. I needed the money real bad and played sngs and cash games to build up to about 1k for a comfortable summer (was living at home then, so not many expenses) but after cashing out some for court and then playing way over my head, I went busto.

I went about 3 months without playing a hand of online poker and was too broke to deposit. I was playing some live games and decided just to win a live game and deposit another 50 and give online poker another shot. After making my 2nd deposit I played for about a week and was only up about 20. After that something came up where I needed about 400$ and that night I played a 10$ MTT and took it down.

Just recently I had been running bad and needed July's rent so I wouldnt have to worry for the rest of the month, and I took 2nd in a 10$ MTT and then 4th in a 22$ 180 man the next day.

Obv most people are going to play their best when the money is very important, but I dont think I should be stepping up my game as much as I do (I think it should be close to that level everytime I play).

What I'm wondering is how you guys keep playing well after a nice score. I need to find a way to pay as much attention as I do when the money is crucial to me. Any tips or advice would be very much appreciated.
  2. Play with the rent money every month
  3. One idea I had was to say "if I win xxxx amount of money I'll take out xxx and buy something Ive been wanting" The only problem with this is that sometimes I need that xxx to cover the downside of variance. I need to convince myself that the money in my account is actually money and not just numbers, and start playing every tournament very seriously. Just figuring out how to do this is tough.

  4. Been there with ya King

While I was collecting unemplyment recently I would play poker
and sometimes it would get close to the end of the month and I would need X amount of $$$ in order to pay the bills while only having a minimal BR

My game would become a little more focused and instead of cashing I would tend to take down a 1st ,2nd, or 3rd.Now that was going on fora little while but like a genius I decide to let my gf move in with me ,Bad Idea

Seems everytime i'm near a FT she has to start bitchin and complaining that I,m playin too much and that we should go out somewhere, in which I respond "Bitch ,We need Money! If you keep fuckin with me while I'm playing ,we will lose money, now stfu and get out of here!"
And her response as usual is to call the cops and show them the restraining order."

Jeez I should have never put her name on the lease ,what an idiot!

Now next time you see me blow a chiplead nearin a FT and you wonder why I pushed with 66 and risked everything for nothing

Ask yourself, Is moving in with your GF almost the same as risking everything for nothing?
  5. just think you're broke all the time.

and i dunno why.....i want to pet this picture
  6. lol swift..thats my stars avatar..I get plenty of comments on it :)

and bullox, nice playing with ya last night...I wish I had been more focused but I was doing a lot of other stuff while playing which didnt cause me to bring my A game....still lucked into a 2nd place finish though...figured on that last hand I had invested enough to where calling with 14 outs was worth it so I could either end it or have a huge lead...gg

I'd really like to hear from the top players about how to can stay focused. I'll watch someone take down the 109r in the afternoon and then register for the 162$ freezeout...if it was me I know I'd just go buy my friends some drinks and get wasted....and after Rizen won the 1 mil guar. I saw him playing a decent amount the following day (maybe it was tuesday..)...it seems like whenever I have a nice score I take a few days off because I wont play very well after winning big.
