Any plans for one of these in the near future?
Obviously everyone has been busy with the new site and great additions.
Unless they're recorded incorrectly, the last one was over a year ago (June 18th 2009) and was on a minor site.
How about an accessible ($11) tourney at a popular site? -
The challenge these days is getting one of the big sites to put up money for this. We've never made anything off running those tournaments but always really enjoyed running them and thought they were great for the community. This was always possible because sites like stars or Full Tilt were willing to put up most of the money to host the event. These days, their pockets have really tightened up, making it difficult to host fun community events with added prizes.
We're still always trying to find ways to run events like this, and we hope to be able to have another one this year. -

why not just promote it on p5's, and make it like a $20+2 tourney with a password that you put on here somewhere.
i'm sure people will play it, even big names...and give like people that ft a free p5s tshirt or something and maybe something to the winner or w/e.

it should be like a yearly tournament like a club championship... 2010 P5's champion...

or have a monthly tourney and then the top 9 of each month move on to the championship with the chips that they won in their monthly tournament to crown a yearly champion... would be kinda coo, and would be a pretty tight badge too have since only 1 person per year can get 1 -
A monthly tourney with a points system, leaderboard, championship, and badges would f$%$ing rock!!!
-
We do make it a $20+2 buy in always... We just generally have added quite a lot of prizes to the pool. The last one we had on stars had $20k in added prizes, for instance. It's a bit harder to draw a crowd if there's nothing extra on the line. We definitely want to get something going, though, and we will be working on it.

try this

i think the monthly tourney would be a good idea, and have badges/tshirts etc. for the winner. make it like a triple crown badge where you have the number in the badge to signify how many you have taken down.

Also, I am sure FT would put up something small like a FTOPS seat to the winner. (or stars wcoop non main) -
co-sign this

esp if you throw in some kind of badge... I bet a lot of people will play for the hell of it.
Just kind of bragging rights type thing. -
Stars (or FTP) hosts a monthly $10+1 or $20+2 tournament. A separate leaderboard is kept using just these tournament results (10 tourneys, use top 3-4 scores only). Each individual tournament has smaller level added prizes (final table each get a Step 3 ticket, 55th gets a $55 tourney entry, etc.).
After 10 tournaments - there will be a final event. Tourney winners (10 in total) and the top 17 remaining players from the leaderboard play in a single 27 person MTT. Winner of this tournament receives a WSOP Main Event entry and will be THE pokerstars/PocketFives representative at the WSOP (wearing both Stars and P5's brands). 2nd-4th get $1500 WSOP entries (similar branding/swag), 5th-9th get Sunday Million entries, 10th-27th get Step 3 tickets. -
Pocket fives cant afford to put up some ????
-
It doesn't make logical sense to really is the issue. One thing you learn when you run a business is you only invest thing things that return $. I don't mind putting up small amounts of things like t-shirts, etc. But it would be a horrible decision to put up, say, 20k in added prizes when most of that 20k goes to benefit a site that won't reimburse the money. But, on the other hand, I think it does make sense for sites to sponsor the P5s Open like they have in the past. Maybe 20k is too much but smaller amounts make sense. So hopefully they'll see that so we can do one soon.

Would stars or ftp be willing to put up like 2k? Then the FT would get a sunday $215 seat.
if not....
It seems that the community here at P5's wants to play with the rest of this community in a private tournament. I bet there would be a decent draw for a $20+2 with nothing additional. A lot of players would play for the chance to beat the high stakes players and earn a P5's badge.
Just my 2 cents -
turn these cents into some dollars lets make this happen the FT would be hype as hell

I'm in with nothing added.. I don't think I'm the only one.. t-shirts and badges ftw!
-
I like the monthly points system approach.. Hold the FT of the top 9 in Vegas or something... That would be pretty sick IMO... Turn it into a promo and live cast it on the internet or ESPN 8 the Ocho or something... If you want to make money there are a bunch of ways to do it...
-
pride baby.
Like people said, 20 bux is the perfect amount and would get a decent turnout IMO. Make it happen -
I am intrested, I want a badge soooo bad
-
Definitely this. Hell I'd still play if the juice was 15%.... matching skills against this community, bragging rights, and the chance to see my name atop a leaderboard is all the appeal I need.
-
I'm in regardless as long as it's on stars or FTP....hate these on bush league sites.

Also like the idea of a monthly series...
