  1. Thinking about moving to Atlanta from South Florida. What is poker like in GA? I played with some guys in Vegas that said they were friends with Josh Arieh (one of them Arieh backed in Aruba?) they were good players...just wondering if theres a place where all the good players get together to play or are there mostly home games?

Anyone from Atlanta feel free to fill me in!
  2. There are some fairly big games, but its all underground. Some at people's houses and I think there is one that goes on at a hotel somewere. I know there are a couple of 5-10 games around. Never played in them but my brother has and said they were pretty soft. I have heard some bad stories about robberies at some of these games though. Usual problems with illegal things, makes them soft targets. Its a big city though, so I'm sure there are games out there I don't know about.
  3. Gabovitch is right for the most part. I know of a lot more 2-5 games than 5-10. They are all underground. Most people host games at their houses or rent apartments where they have 2-3 tables. You can also find many low L games from 2-4 to upwards to 20-40. Most games are NL though. Tournaments can be found on a weekly basis as well.

Back in December there was a robbery at one game where 27k (depending on who you ask...some say 40k) was taken, they reopened a couple months later and it was raided by the Gwinnet County police. Very ugly scene. A game I played at was then robbed shortly after the raid and then reopened in a new locale only to be hit again. Obvioulsy paranoia set in, having guns pointed at you will do that. The rooms I play in have since "closed their doors" to new players. As each month goes by however that rule has been bent.

As Gabovitch said, I'm sure there are more that I don't know about.
  4. I hear Atlanta has some excellent games at these two poker rooms called Ultimate Bet and party poker. Non-stop action!! I heard Antarctica has the same! Who needs Vegas anymore?

  5. Don't any of you Americans ever get annoyed by the fact that ANYONE in your country can buy a gun and use it as they will, yet there are so many problems around a group of mature adults deciding they want to play Poker for a few hours.

That's one fuked up country for sure!
