  2. Thread Merged: Are the poker training sites like CardRunners really that beneficial?

    ---

I listened to an interview earlier this week with the "pro" Jungleman12 and he was saying that training sites are a better than books. I have heard that these sites do make you a better player, but was wondering if they are really that beneficial? Also if anyone knows roughly the cost of these sites and any other info that would be great. Thanks and good luck at the tables
  3. 1. Yes, if you're willing to put the work into them to get the max out of them
    2. They tend to be ~$200-$250 for a years subscription
  4. How do these sites teach who? And thanks for the info
  5. I'm not trying to advertise for anyone but I got a membership to dc...I was wondering who a good instructor was for vids...new to cash game trying to transition. Thanks!

  6. How much was the membership? and how do they exactly teach u? Do they just show u how u play? Or do they have tutorials or what?
  7. You can do like 29$ for one month and like 250ish for a year...haven't played around with it much but pretty sure its just vids of them playing and explaining who they are doing...it cost extra for one on one coaching I'm sure.

  8. Thought I should respond to this post. About 3 or 4 months ago I reached out to buttsauce33 aka bbbbb33 about mentoring/coaching. We both live in Philly and I saw a thing on his page about mentoring. It cost me some cash but it was my best poker investment to date, as so many small things in the game were hurting my play (no small things it seems). A couple of months ago, after 10+ hours with Josh (hand histories reviewed/watched him play and talked through numerous situations etc) I luck-boxed my way to a 3rd place finish (and played well I believe) in an FTOP event for 150k or so. I was an ok at best player before I learned from the sauce, and I like to think I am better now...at the very least my confidence is higher...I have a few bucks I didnt have prior and one of the better players helping me whenever I need some feedback. The confidence aspect to this game is soooooooo underrated as is the mental place we are in when we click away all day and night. I am a very grateful student of sauce and I am sure many of these teachers are great...however be warned. Michael Jordan was never a great coach...but Pat Riley was. More than being a great player is needed to be a great coach. When you can find someone who can do and can teach it...the return on your investment should get there. That has been my experience with the man they call buttsauce.
  9. post removed: This thread is reserved for discussion/feedback on poker instructors and training sites only.
  10. I had my first coaching session ever last week - I was actually astonished how much value I got from it. I've been a CR member for two years and watch their vids with a religious-like zeal. I haven't read a non-poker book in seven years and haven't had a conversation that didn't include bet sizing or blind versus blind strategy in four.
But I may have learned more about my game in one hour from Dave "muckducks" Cairns than I have since Dan Harrington slapped me up side the head and told me to stop checking and start continuation betting.
I've been a fan of muckducks' videos on cardrunners for mtt's. he gives great one-on-one instruction as well. And he's here on pocketfives. Looking forward to my next session.

Awesome review. Now I can see why you waited three years to make a post, you wanted to make it good.

WOW. I don't know what sauce got up your butt. I was being genuine, I thought it was a good review. Good combo of being funny while providing some good info.

After that reply though I kinda question our decision to let this thread be here. Maybe there was a good reason for not allowing coaching promotion stuff on P5s if people are going to be this testy about it. This definitely puts it way more on the border for me as to whether we should allow this to continue although I think we'll let it hang out for a bit longer and see where it goes.

Nah I'll leave it so other people know that they shouldn't be hypersensitive. I edited the quote in my post to take out the part that you removed.

  17. I think that a thread promoting p5's coaching is a good idea, I know I just joined, but I think it will be really beneficialy for alot of players who dont know where to reach out for when they are looking for some 1 on 1 help or instruction. Thanks for making this thread guys
  18. I have been a PxF sub for about four months and have also taken one 2 hour lesson from "Fox". The lesson was pretty good but I think I will be more prepared for my next lesson. I also think that spending some time to find the right coach for you is time well spent. I have recently been thinking about trying "doubledave22" for my next lesson, but I am trying to make sure I am ready first. A coach is great and important, but if you are not already putting in the time and work and prepared to work hard no coaching will matter, so I am trying to make sure I am completely ready before my next lesson.

Great idea on a thread and I hope lots of coaches get business and players get to improve and this great game of poker keeps growing. GL ALL

The OP of this thread doesn't promote "P5s Coaching" per-se... it's just a general list of Training Sites and Private Coaches who are contributors here on the site. PocketFives has zero involvement in any private deal you make with a training site or personal coach.

  20. Thread Merged: Tournament Poker Edge thinking about joining

    ---

Just looking for some input, I mostly play low stakes MTT's., Do you recommend this site for all levels of play or is it more geared towards larger buy ins. I am ready to make a investment just want to make sure this is the right training site for me
  21. Go for it, for $20 a month and no signup fee it's a no brainer to check it out.
  22. Wow, didn't know it was that cheap. I think I will definitely be joining at least to check it out.
  23. Its definitely worth the money. The instructors are good, videos are not boring, and they seem to pump new videos out just about every other day. Have had it about 3 months and would recommend to anyone grinding the micro to mid levels.
  24. I joined for 3 months I will give it a whirl
  25. PxF member for last 3 years or so. Quality stuff. Definitely worth the investment.
  26. I was thinking of looking into online training sites to watch some videos for online MTT improvement. I was looking for some advice on which ones are worth the time and money as far as number of videos and their content quality goes. Any input would be appreciated.

    Thanks!

  28. I have been working with andressoprano for the last two months, and let me say he has changed my game tremendously. He was quick to find a few leaks I had & we corrected immediately. He is very easy to talk to and understand, considering he is from Spain, but I won't hold that against him. Love the Spanish accent. :P

Since working with him I've had my biggest 3 scores online, including the $11 rebuy $75k Guaranteed & $27.50 $30k Guaranteed on stars, and the $26 $18k Guaranteed on FullTilt. I can honestly say I wouldn't have had this success without him. I will continue to work with him for a long time. I definitely recommend him.

Ive had TPE for about a week or 2 now and I agree it is worth the money. Probably the most bang for your buck. Cant beat the price and the content is great for all levels.
  30. pxfer and loving it... but you should probably change the instructor list in the OP

these guys have great content up... but dont make vids anymore at all:
    apestyles
    PearlJammer
    inissint
    Rizen

so if you include them... then include Kevin Saul as well... who also had some great content but he doesnt make vids currently

and definitely add Ryan "gutshtallin" Welch to the list of people who currently makes great vids... and well, he did ship a bracelet this year fwiw
add Scott Clements to the list... probably some of the best if not the best O8 MTT content out there... but he has made some NLHE vids as well
