It's a datamining software for Holdem games.
It's a datamining software package. They collect data on 100K's of players into a database.
They rate players over the life of their playing history and will give you that information in a format that lets you use it to (a) make table selections to be more profitable (you can pick tables that have more weak players and larger pots); (b) They have a HUD that Attaches to yor table similar PAHUD and you can use it to help you make decisions on how you play versus the player.
If you use PT & PAHUD, your database will only include the players you have seen. If you use Poker-Edge, you have access to all players in their database.
PE let's you launch your poker room from their software datamining base, and it cuts down on the search for an acceptable table to play at. You can see who's there, get preview of the types of players, and their stats before you sit-in. You can open the table and/or add to the waiting list from PE.
It is used by a wide variety of players (from low & micro tables up to the high stakes). A few poker rooms frown on it's use and will disconnect/bar/suspend your account if you are caught re-peatedly using it. pokerstars has it in their TOS as a forbiden software program.
They say it gives you an unfair advantage. If you aren't using some type of software datamining you will be the player with the disadvantage. -
Thanks for the info,
I thought I had heard of it being banned by stars, but was not sure. I play mostly Stars, some FTP and DBPR. Right now I use Poker Tracker, but no PAHUD. I have a hard time getting the best info out of PT (setting up player groups based on statistics and finding the info in general for any given player). I play mostly $10-20 SNG and MTT's so am looking for something that does well with tournament players. PT tracks the stats well, but I seem to have a hard time putting it to practical use...and like was stated...if you don't use something...your already at a disadvantage!! Which is why I'm a total donk......trying to get better so I can move up to the rank of Jack Ass!!!
