  1. I've had moderate success a poker player over the last 5 years, playing mostly SNG's and MTT's. I made a decsision a few months ago I was going to really work on my game and look to move it to the next level. The results over the last few months have been great and I am doing better than I have ever done.

However, I go on TILT very easily when one of the following happens.

    Take a bad beat
Have a bluff go horribly wrong
Make a weak fold that would have resulted in a MONSTER pot

What kills me is I'll play great for hours in an MTT and one of the above happens and I'm usually out soon after, even if I'm in an OK chip position relative to the blinds.

Just curious how others handle this part of thier game.....
  2. You have to realise that you will never get to the next level unless you can change. TILTING is your enemy. Next time you get a bad beat,, etc. take a deap breath and focus on something else for a second or two. You have to learn to break the negitive patten in your mind. Superior play requrires superior disipline...in life as well as poker. Good luck.
  3. bad beats barely even fade me anymore. the number one thing i can contribute this attribute to is PROPER BR MANGEMENT. the other day i was playin 2/4 NL.... i had 55, flop came 544.... sweet ya know. anyways turn comes, we get it all in... 900 dollar pot... river 4... he has 34 for qauds. i shrug it off and say no biggie ya know, i'm sure sometime there will be a situation where I'm the one who nails qauds against the boat. ya know, cards even out in the longrun.

  4. Not sure how to fade the tilting , but i can tell you that i quit playing cash games due to tilt . I would come in fresh do well for the first hour , and after the third , fifth , or tenth beat i would tilt and be all over the place . IM a tournament player , but everytime i dabble in cash games this seems to happen (never dabbled too much in NL , but id assume itd be the same) .

I think being in tournaments is a big help , as it caps the damage tilt can cost , as well as many of the times you take a big beat and would tilt - youre out .

That being said , this is all a while back . I am still playing tournaments , but tilting is definitely fading away slowly . I feel like the more and more i play and see , and get lucky and unlucky , the more it just makes sense subconsciously . Ive heard and read the speeches about ilting a million times - if youre getting in good the money will come to you , you should be happy etc etc , but i think the volume of play is the best cure . Try to look at the big picture , and lastly every time you get beat - just think about your tracker/spreadsheet - shoudl give you some confidence to keep trucking with a positive attitude .
