That Haxton was giving a terrific interview until they get to the World Series drama about last year and he turns into super-douche. Sebok apologized multiple times last year and on the show yesterday. Whether you agree with his play in the specific tourny or not, why not just let little shit like that go? You really just solidify your douchieness by being a bitch about the situation IMO.
-
He was completely correct though and basically owned Sebok.
I mean when you are considering whether he is being a super-douche or not remember the context, Ike is dealing with the Joe Sebok who called him out for bad play at the World Series. Ike is clearly much much more knowledgable about poker and the better player and yet Joe Sebok called him out and a hell of a lot of people would have heard this. How do you think Ike would react? Sure he sounds arrogant as hell but he is totally correct and basically he pwns Sebok imo. -
were can we hear this interview?
-
I dont argue with his logic, I just think the way he handled the interview (which was, I believe, intended to officially just clear the record and clean the slate between the two) was ultra douchey. He could have gotten the same point across in a much more tactful way, then I think he would have truly pwnd Sebok.

pokerroad.com or search poker road radio in itunes.

I agree he could have been a little less arrogant but I think he would only come across as a total douche if :
1. You don't understand how right he is.
2. You don't understand the history here with Sebok calling him out. -
Although Ike is clearly the more knowledgeable player and completely destroyed Sebok's reasons for calling him a retard etc, he comes across as a total nerdy, arrogant prick, which in a perverse way reinforces Sebok's original estimation of him.
For him to react in the way he did to the recordings of Sebok's comments was unnecessary and pretty uncomfortable to listen to. For all his faults as a poker player (and i'm sure there are more than a few) at least Sebok conducted himself with a degree of class that is completely alien to Ike. -
I understand his logic and the history. I see where he was coming from in his play, and I also enjoyed hearing his side of the story, that was great. Additionally, I was listening to every show involving "Haxtongate" last summer. Joe insulted the guy on his show, that was a shitty thing to do, and to his credit he apologized for that on multiple occasions. And I do remember them having Kenny Tran on the show during the controversy and he was just adding flames to the fire.
That being said, of course Haxton had a reason to be pissed about the situation. But christ the shit happened 7 months ago, this was Haxton's chance to take the high road, explain his thought process in the hands the two were involved in, and let by gones be by gones. Yes, he explained his thought process, but why did he have to go and insult the guy to his face after all this time. Its laughable how the interview played out really, but Haxton just made himself look like a real ass by choosing to act the way he did. Again, just my opinion. -
exactly what I was trying to get across, you just said it better. tyvm.
-
He was a little venomous and arrogant but my point is there was a good reason for that.
I admit Joe handled himself in a classy manner and Isaac was maybe a little too venomous considering the general atmosphere but I completely disagree with the douche comments. Just listen to the show again and the recorded sections of Joe from the archive with the original comments. He even admits himself he was thoroughly out of line especially since he was so wrong and looked stupid. Now Isaac was obviously very annoyed about this and had to listen to the comments over again before talking and now he gets to set the record straight. -
we're just talking in circles now. point made, good day sir.
-
just listened to the episode...he didnt come out as a jackass...just a person trying to defend his play
-
canwe get a HH or youtube vid of the hand in question?
-
I agree c_rev.
Cmoney I believe the hand was live at the WSOP. Just a few completely standard reshoves that Sebok did not understand. -
Basically Sebok had 22BB with KK in EP. He makes a standard raise pre, Haxton shoves with AT and looses. Very next hand Sebok opens with 99 and Haxton shoves again, Sebok thinks and calls, Haxton shows KJ or KQ (cant remember), either way he spikes one of his overcards and gets his chips back. Like I said, I never disagreed with Haxton's play, nor am I defending Seboks reaction on his show after the tourney. However, Sebok apologized many many times and Haxton cant seem to let it go.

Basically Ike owned Seebok, i don't know how BarryG could have taught such a nonthinking poker playing son.....That being said Seebok owned Ike in the class and respectability part of the interview, how he conducted himself has made me think very highly of mr. seebok a real class act! even though he is horrible horrible horrible at donkaments IMO -
haxton is a nerd/dork/loser/and just flat out weird
but he did pwn seebs in the interview, that being said he also has no class -
Right. I have no idea what anyone is talking about.
Is there video footage of "Haxtongate" ?? -
Im not sure why everyone is flaming Joe's poker playing ability. In addition to being a cool guy, and a class act, I have only seen evidence of him having a tremendous amount of talent and knowledge. Of course it seems if your name isnt Ivey or Brunson, you dont get much respect in this community if you are a live player.
-
I'm not sure why you're acting like you know what you're talking about. Joe Sebok isn't that good, just listen to him talk about poker...

Played 2 years is that really bad??? We all should respect what Joe and Barry are doing with the pokerroad.com. Iam sure they not making money from this just doing it for the love of the game. About Haxton situation Joe IMO was just pissed WSOP is a big grind and he had a bad day. So called Haxton out for but why Haxton takes this so serious i do not understand. -
I havent listened to the segment yet. From what I have read in this thread, whatever Joe said originally was wrong, even according to him. Its also possible what he said may have come across as dumb or uninformed. Like I said, I havent listened to it yet. I guess the responses bashing Joe's game here are based on his comments in those segments, as I would not understand the lack of respect if they werent.
-
Gambler this is nothing about Sebok's all around ability this is just about a leak he has about not understanding some basic poker mathematics. Although its pretty obvious Ike is a much better overall player too.
-
Sebok is horrible at poker and a jerk.
-
I liked Isaac a lot. He was right about the KJ hand- Sebok should be thinking about the range of hands he'd be racing against. There's no way around that when one of the players are all-in. I like Sebok, but he gets on my nerves in that show sometimes. For every poker question, even when he doesn't know the answer, he always has to be first to respond. Then he answers EVERY question the same "well, that doesn't work for my style. Everyone expects me to play like a maniac so I'll always lead out". Meanwhile, just about everything Gavin Smith says is gold but he often has to cut Sebok off to be able to speak.
-
I haven't listened to this segment either, but in past segments on the show he has proven that he has a lot of fundamental flaws in his game. Sometimes pointed out by Gavin and Joe usually just says "yeah whatever...i guess" and shrugs it off.
