Hi All,
I'm a college student and have had a wild online poker career with ups and downs and playing way beyond my bankroll in SnGs and other tournaments. (My Fav was playing a 500 + 25 with a 2500 BR, recently been playing 100 + SnGs with ~1000 bankroll and it hurts) As you can guess, this has come back to bite me, and even though I have good success I obviously don't have the BR to sustain the variance.
My biggest problem now is that I'm fallen into the 'Nothing below XXX amount keeps my interest if I'm playing it," even though I clearly don't have the BR to support it.
Overall I know I'm a solid player in the poker aspect and I need some advice to get started playing poker on the side. By on the side I mean playing about 2-3 hours a day, 4-5 days a week. (We'll say 12 hours a week on avg.)
I can probably dedicate about 1000 - 1500 for a bankroll (maybe a little bit more) without hurting my financial expenses. I realize this will keep me out of the $100+ games for sure, and probably out of the $50+ games. I need to know what a good SnG part-time strategy is. I know I can play 2 tables solid but would like to work up from there:
-I'm thinking the 20 + 2 games are my best choice, but is it possible I could play higher? (Keep in mind I havn't seriously played anything under 100 dollars in the past three months, I'm worried about keeping my interest. I guess multi-tabling might be the answer.)
-What software should I use to keep track automatically, I've been keeping track manually in an excel spreadsheet but I think this tends to toy with my emotions and is tedious. (Pokertracker?)
-I think I have had fairly good success in MTTs in my career (though some terrible blow-ups right before the bubble). What kind of allowances and what levels of MTTs can I play?
-Cash games worth considering?
Sorry I know this is a long post and I don't expect any personal mentors, but any advice on any of these would be helpful, including links to the most relevant articles.
Thank you very much in advance,
-alanrumpf -
Also, if I wanted to triple my BR ( 1000 - 1500 > 3000 - 4500 ) what would be a realistic expectation for the amount of time that would take let's say with a 10% ROI. (I can't do the math)
