Yet I see the heavy P5 promotion of sport betting with the Mansion deal.
This makes me a bit concerned as it links online poker with sports betting in the eyes of the authorities (should they come here lol) and may actually hinder the effort to keep online poker quasi-legal and freely available.
I would rather see P5 "the online poker authority" stick to poker.
IMO of course.

He makes a point that is worth considering. But I don't think it really matters much in the grand scheme of things. -
I think this is an arbitrary distinction that avoids the real issue, which is that the government has no business restricting our right to use our money however we wish. Even if you don't hold this libertarian view on the subject, what is the big difference between the two? In one case you are betting on your own ability to play a game, and in the other you're betting on somebody else's (unless you're Pete Rose.)

I understant the original poster's thoughts and somewhat agree...but I agree more with emcee21 regarding the real issue. Honestly as far as I know there is no united front strategy and until there is one I want to keep seeing special promos (that are legit) were you can get free money even if it has nothing to do with poker. But everyone has an opinion and it's good to get the views on both sides.

i dont care if its about dying pigs in the congo...if its about a free 1k i want to see it, and i want to see it on the front page

Sports betting over the internet in the USA is illegal. This kind of promotion cannot help the chances of the continued legality of online poker. I am not doing it because this is the kind of flaunting that will piss off the feds. If you don't think they are onto this as it concerns people in this country (USA) you don't have the nuts, you are the nuts. This is the stuff headlines are made of.
