Poker slang - what does Dr. mean?

    in john tabatabai's blog he refers to Sorel Mizzi as 'Dr Sorel Mizzi'

    I know it must have something to do with being sick but can't work it out because if Sorel is sick- he's the one who needs a doctor!

    Sorel earned a Ph.D in Toronto.

    If I had ever earned that high of a degree, I'd want to be called doctor too... he definitely earned it.

    i had a quick around the Internet and couldn't find any mention of it. Perhaps he wants to keep it quiet. However, I'm not convinced - he's too young to have a Ph. D.

    yeah... he went to school with Douglas Howser and Vinny Delpino but last i heard Vinny joined the New Jersey mob.
