1. Why doesn't Poker stars have step SnGs? I believe that they would be welcomed with open arms by the Poker Stars community. Step SnGs are fun, low risk and offer a great opportunity to build your bankroll. If Stars were to offer step SnGs I think they should follow the format used by the Prima Poker Network. This format consists of five rounds --

Round 1 - $5 + $.50 --> 1st and 2nd place win $27.50 in tokens

Round 2 - $25 + $2.50 --> 1st and 2nd place win $125 in tokens -- 3rd place wins $27.50 in tokens

Round 3 - $112.50 + $12.50 --> 1st-4th places win $302.50 in tokens -- 5th place wins $27.50 in tokens

Round 4 - $275 +$27.50 --> 1st-5th places win $550 + 55 in tokens

Round 5- $550 + $55 (FINAL) --> 1st place wins $3000 cash, 2nd place wins $1200 cash, 3rd place wins $800 cash and 4th place wins $500 cash.

*You start with 1500 chips in each level and the blinds are 10 minutes long for Rounds 1-4 and 12 minutes long for Round 5.

There is no rake on the buyins until you get to Round Five. The prize pool there is $5500 so the site operator gets $55 from every player. Therefore, Prima profits $550 on every round five that is played. Stars would make similar profits to this although they have 9 man tables instead of 10 man tables like Prima has. Therefore the above stucture would have to be adapted for 9 man tables.

Would anyone else be interested in these step SnGs on Poker Stars?

2. many people would be interested, i doubt stars would be interested in not charging a rake at the early stages, what would they gain from that?
3. No monetary gains there for stars. The buyin amounts to the earlier rounds could easily be adjusted to allow a 10% rake if Stars so desired. However, the 10 percent rake taken in round five on Prima is almost twice what Stars charges for its $500 + $30 SnGs (only a 6 percent rake there). Hard to know if that would even out not having rakes in the earlier rounds.

4. That is a great question Veritaz!
There was a huge discussion started on here on March the 28th almost two months ago. Poker stars got a bunch of emails requesting them as well. I am not sure how seriously they are considering them though. There are alot of players that really want them. Some of the complaints were:

1) They hold your money and force you to play.

The solution would be #1 to pay out each round in cash or #2 pay out each round in tourney dollars so people can do what they wish with them.

2) There are shark infested waters up top.

The solution to this would be to make it non cost effect to buy into the top step by flattening out the prize pool pay out. Me personally I don't give a damn if there are sharks or not. They can't eat me everytime.

If it were up to me I would make it 6 steps myself and on step # 6 everyone gets a piece of the prize pool. I would also make the top 3 advance and 4th and 5th replay the step. When you have more than 3 advancing it sometimes turns into a grind fest.

Just my two cents! I also did not start it this time!! ................... :0)
5. great layout....would be cool
6. Obviously there a bunch of us that agree with you. Just search the posts in the past on this subject.
7. "The solution would be #1 to pay out each round in cash or #2 pay out each round in tourney dollars so people can do what they wish with them."

if they did this you could do the same thing with regular money
8. Everybody who wants these on stars, email them asking for them. The more people that they get emails from could speed up the whole process of adding these
9. Well, not exactly.
1) In a regular sit and go the 1st three places do not pay the same amount of money to each spot.

2) In a regular sit and go you do not have a chance to replay the sit and go if you come in 4th or 5th you just have to buy in again reducing your bank roll by that amount.
10. Me personally I don't give a damn if there are sharks or not. They can't eat me everytime.

11. Dcal must be Humberto.
12. For us low rollers they were a great way to play a lot on a little money and I was still contributing to the rake so stars shouldn't have a problem with it.

I played over 14 hours one day starting at step 1 on party and finally ended up winning $2000 at step 5. Increasing my "roll" by a zillion percent or so.

Obviously I was hooked until we got the boot.
13. Broadway,
Pokershare still takes US players. They are the only step sit and gos that we can play right now. Hopefully Poker stars will put something together soon. Between party and them there are about 700+ players that would probably move to Poker Stars if they ran them. I know I would.
14. i think it is a great idea
15. I've never played the Steps, but it sounds like a great idea (as I've stated before in other threads).

I mainly play on Full Tilt, but would definitely switch to Stars if they implemented these sit-n-gos.

Well pokerstars? You responded saying that you would look into it, but we've heard nothing since. You have awesome customer support, so can we have some more feedback?

P.S. Thanks for the e-mail Fortune.
16. Steps on stars

Steps on stars

Steps on stars---

Cmon stars, u know how we feel about this...
Make it happen!!!
17. Mike and Scotty are you guys hearing this? Paleeeeeeeeeeese make this happen.
18. Poker stars does need steps the party poker steps were gold mines. So many bad players couldn't resist the idea of turning 10 dollars into a couple grand. It attracted bad players with no SNG knowledge. This gave you the oppurtunity to make a couple grand off bad players which is not easy to do in todays poker world unless you find that guy that just won a donkament for 10k sitting at a big cash game but for the most part you have to play solid players at higher limits to make thousands at SNG or just put in killer hours. But with Step SNGs you don't have to put in massive hours to make thousands and you don't have to play tough players until the last buy in, but hey you wait for a couple weeks to play that 5 looking for a soft table and in the mean time try to earn more Step 5s so that when you play the first one your not putting all your hopes on that single SNG.
19. I know why you guys like steps. cause when a lag donk like me hits the 2k, I can dump it all back when like the donkey I put it all in the 10/20NL game.
20. they have the exact same thing on doyle's room, they call it rounders though and it's quite popular. I've played it twice and made it through to round 2 and round 3 but I definitely like the format.
21. US players can not play on Doyles room. They can play on pokershare which is on the same network. Traffic is best between 12-4:30 PM
22. I'm playing steps right now... On party poker!
23. u suck
24. NO, THIS PRIMA FORMAT SUCKS. THE PRIMA FORMAT SUCKS

Poker stars, please take a look at party poker's step format!

It is absolutely the finest Step SnG tourney format in existence.

Thank you,
pd
25. Hey dogger! How ya been?
Careful what you ask for, remember there are a couple hick ups in the party poker format that Prima actually has the upper hand. On round 5 they only advance the top two finishers to step six which chokes off the last round action. IMO the top three on every step needs to move up one and 4th and 5th need to get a mulligan (a repeat of the same step) otherwise it becomes a grind push bot fest. I actually like the way Prima lets you build your bankroll (tokens) by not forcing you to move up if you don't want to. I have about $3,000 in tokens built up in the last 3 weeks or so. Poker stars can easily do this with their tourney dollar system. Mike Jones, the free car wash offer still stands!

Edit: You know what is funny that the rounders tournaments on Prima have tripled in the last few weeks from all the chatter on here right now there are prolly 400 people playing the rounders. Come on Stars!
26. Well hell I may have to get back over there. It's been months but the last time Prima Rounders was s l o w to get going. 3K in tokens!?! Good job sir!!!
What I don't like about Prima is the lower rounds only 2 advance. But I agree, the top rounds more advance, how can we have it both ways? LOL
What level you buying in at, if you don't mind me asking?
Thanks
27. I started at the $5.00 tables and grinded and grinded thru the $25.00 tables. Now I am buying in at the $112 + 12 and build up my tokens then I will make a run at the $275 then the $500.00. I have managed to cash a couple g's as well. I am trying to do what ever I can to stay off of the $5.00 and $25.00 tables with only the top 2 advancing it is not fun but a must do. At least with the $112's the top 4 move up. IMO that is one to many because the play gets a little tight. Then as you know on round 4 the top 5 advance to the final round.
28. yes plz, mimic tha party steps

29. Hello PocketFives,
We do hear you, and step SNGs are still something which we are seriously considering. Last time I posted on this subject I mentioned that there are technical hurdles which must be overcome before we can offer this sort of tournament set up. We are working on those and it is entirely possible that Steps are in pokerstars' future. In the meantime, rest assured that we realize there is demand and that we're PokerStars... of course we're listening to player feedback!

Regards,

30. Jeeeeeeeeeeez!
You are Poker stars the biggest and badest poker site on this planet with unlimited resources. I would think that your software people could have put this together by now it has been two months. If they can't do it just go buy the software from Prima or party (or buy them out period)and be done with it ;0) ........... Just kidding. (Maybe)

Seriously though Mike thanks for popping in and letting us know that the idea may still be alive and did not get tabled. ............ Cheers
