  1. I realize this is a bit of an asinine question to post here, but I am having a debate with one of my fellow reporters, BJ Nemeth. When referring to how many big blinds a player has in their stack, what is the more commonly accepted way to describe a stack of 15 big blinds. Or, to put it another way, how would you write it?

    a) 15 bbs
    b) 15 bb

Any input would be greatly appreciated = )
  2. 15 BBs imo

  3. c) 15 beebs

  4. c) beebs

But I think it depends on the context. You could say that he had a 15 bb stack or that he had 15 bbs?

edit: wow got pwned on beebs

This is a valid point, but my question is this: would you ever write "15 bb" w/o following it up w/ the word "stack"? Yes, it is used to describe the size of a stack, but when denoting how many blinds you have, you typically write 15bbs, no?

    Nan f'ng Q itt!

  10. If the point of abbreviation is brevity then the answer is clearly "bb".
  11. Whatever Dr. Pauly says is right.
  12. BB

You wouldn't write rbis for baseball...you would write rbi.
  13. B stands for BIG
    B stands for BLINDS

    No need for the s

ya but its not runs batted ins so analogy is mute, bb ftw tho

  15. To answer your question, no one who plays poker really gives a shit either way as long as they know what you mean, and either is acceptable, assuming you're not using a acronym bb, or bbs in the article as well, then whatever is used to avoid confusion is understandable.
  16. b) 15 Bling Blings

    negative

15bbs usually, but as someone stated it can be bb in some contexts, but rare. I never hear someone tell a hand story, that starts off with, "so i had 30beebee" (singular)

  18. me and my buddies just say "15 blickety blimpelta" because it is already implied that it is plural because it is preceded by the number 15 so it's unnecessary to type in the extra "E" and say "15 blickety blimpeltae"

if some guy said "hey what do you do with 15 blickety blimpeltae right here" i'd be like wtf dude youre a fkn weirdo

  20. It's a bit informal, but I just say 15 bigs when I'm talking.

So if you said "he had fifteen bigs behind" people would get that too. It would just seem a little *street-like* or hip.

    Reads easier too.

  21. 15BB imo but I've never thought about it until today

I don't believe this is correct, I think it is singular, like, "I just posted the big blind."

edit - and you would never say, "I have one big blinds left."
  25. oh yeah, the AP Stylebook says it is bb, saves space.
  26. 30 sbs

    imo
  27. 15 bb
  28.
  29. Depends on how you report it. You can either say "he has a 15bb stack" or you could say "he shoved for 15bbs"
  30. How is this thead 2 pages?!?!?! I would say "who cares" but obv a lot of people do...lol
