  1. My apoligies if this needs to be in OT as it is prob more a computer question than a poker question. I was wondering if I play poker at work on MY laptop but using the office's wifi can that be seen by my employers? I only play after hours when none of the owners are there so they would have to be looking the next day. Thanks.
  2. I use to do this till I quite to play fulltime. The owner was amazinly cool about it and would often stand net me and watch. Like 3 or 4 times i won like $2-4k while getting paid at work and other coworkers all standing around watching me lol.the good ole days when poker was so much fun, fml.
  3. I just remembered one thing I didnt like about it was everyone would ask for cash when I'd win.Fucking sucked cause how can I say no I cant go spend $100-200 on beers for you guys when I just won $4k. I was way to kind back then, now I dont say a word to certain people when I win lol.
  4. Unless you have a really good IT department you should be safe.

Most places use a basic set of filters that block porn, gambling and extremist sites themselves. I bet you can't visit www.Pokerstars.com itself but the software uses a different set of IP addresses to connect. The church's wifi is set up that way. It is funny being able to play poker sitting in the parking lot.
  5. I think if you want to play poker at work you got problems. Just my opinion.

Hey! I play poker at work all the time!

But I guess I do have a problem, I never relised that playing poker at work would lead to erectile disfunction. :-(

Yeah you might have missed the part where I said its after hours. That would be after a full day of work (in which I am the number 2 producer in an office of 12 consultants) As to my ability to surf the web etc.. When I'm on my laptop I can go everywhere. There are no filters at all. However the actual office computers (hard wired - not wifi) have filters like crazy. Any IT guys out there that know anything?

  8. If you have a wireless network at work it's most likely not part of your corporate LAN envirionment. Its probably some sort of guest net that doesn't require a user id/pwd so you are probably good. Either way, you aren't using company assets to play poker, download child porn, beastiality, or surf the Bareback Exchange so you may be OK.
  9. I tried to play a SnG on Full Tilt while I was at work. I was able to bring up the Full Tilt Lobby, but it wouldn't allow me to register for a tournament because my account was showing $0. When I got home and checked my money was all there.

So I am guessing the filter was able to prevent me from playing somehow.

You should have just let the office secretary watch. Then you could win 4K, put 3.5 in your pocket and nail the office eye candy.

A corporate WIFI is on the same internet infrastructure as wired. Well it better be! Surfing the web and accessing online gambling sites can be "monitored/blocked" differently with different infrastructure depending on the site. pokerstars used Port 22 (SSH) therefore it's up to the firewall to allow/deny this outbound traffic. FTP uses 443 therefore it depends on Secure Web Gatway a corporations IT department has implemented on whether it's set to allow/block/ and yes..anything can be "monitored'...but the issue with that is will your traffic alone trigger an event that clues an IT admin to go digging?
  13. I work in a very lax IT department for an advertising agency. There are definitly solutions out there (not just firewalls) that can monitor what applications are being run on company computers and for how long. I would try to buddy up with someone in IT and maybe ask them in a round about way. All companies are different in what they track, what they block, and what the consequences are of any infraction. While we do have the ability to track what our employees do on our equipment (even when they are not on our network), we have never cracked down on people playing poker or browsing Facebook/Myspace et al. We do sometimes sit around and watch people surf foot fetish and midget porn, but we never really say anything to them.

I play micro stakes a lot during work hours, and my boss knows about it and watches sometimes. I always get my work done, and always go above and beyond in all of my projects. It's nice being treated like an adult.
  14. sure you only play (after hours) LOL, I'm sure you will be fine, nothing like making money while your making money,
  15. Playing poker at work could be considered riskybusiness.
