The last OK between BOTH of us---
Here is what STARS said in an e-mail--
They want me to explain SPLIT DEAL---Gee 50/50 works, doesnt, between two people?
Hello Michael,
Thank you for your mails.
As I explained in the two last mails:
Please note that pokerstars cannot enforce tournament chops or deals made
in chat while a PokerStars Host is not present.
In this tourney, 95045040, there were no Host present as you spoke about how
you would end the tournament.
As there is not complete certainty as to the intent of the deal based
on the chat logs we are unable to alter the official outcome or results of
tournament #95045040.
I have reviewed the chat logs carefully, several times and I have also
included them to you in the previous mails, but I have included it once more
in the bottom of this mail. As I was saying there is not a complete
certainty that your opponent agreed to any deal nor was it stated how such a
deal or split would look like. -
y didnt u just sit out and email support and let them come 2 the table and chop it for you.... or just dont chop
-
thats standard wait for support to come before chopping
-
why on earth would you chop this way, as played there's really nothing you can do about this.
Next time both sit out and wait for support, or don't chop when your only playing for 600$ anyways. -
I dont see exactly where you said it would be 50/50, and with no host present, sounds like stars made the right call here. geez, an $11 buck 180? play it out, facryinoutloud.
-
hate to say it man, but you screwed the pooch on this one. When you're chopping a tournament you can call a host to the table and terms can be discussed from there. You both needed to sit out and one would have eventually come along even if you didn't call for them. When you allowed him not to sit out and just take your blinds, you were giving the tournament away. Who says a chop is 50/50? It certainly doesn't have to be. The guy should give you half the winnings on his own accord, but, unfortunately, you are not entitled to anything here.

If you are going to work your own deal through chat, then you need to state what percentage of the remaining prize pool each player gets. Using the word CHOP does not do it. You could chop 60/40, or chop 70/30 or chop 50/50. If you had stated any of these, or used the word "even", "equal" or anything like that, I have no doubt that pokerstars would handle it.
Next time, be specific or get a host to come to the table to handle the deal. -
I did the same thing with another tourny a few days back and they chopped it.
He agreed on a CHOP and said OK
Tuff lesson to learn--but stars did it for me before this--
Fair is fair in my book.
Mike -
I have always wondered why the sites which allow chopping don't have a button at the final table that will stop the tournament when each remaining player hits it. I have watched the blinds escalate a couple of levels before a member of support shows up

Your RUDE for the retarded remark--
Here is PROOF they honored a deal a few days back---
They split it for us----very similar to my first post
Be real guys----difference is only 90-100 bucks--
Chop is 50/50 between two players

197712723 CoolHandMike then I e-mail support 9 7/9/2008 10:55:03 AM
Use your brain.
edit: also where did you get this rediculous idea of i'll let you win or you let me win. -
You're not listening. Chop in no way implies 50/50. I have been involved in the 2 way chops that were based on current chip stacks, I have been involved in 3 way or larger chops. Chop simply means you are agreeing to divide the prize pool in some fashion other than the scheduled fashion.

Who is this Rah1 character? I would try to look him up and ask him to honor the agreement, vague as it was.
-
OK--
Lesson learned--
Yeah--we wanted to split the 180 and both of us get an extra $100 if we got 2nd place.
Sorry--we do have to start somewhere and the $100 means a lot to me.
Thanks for all the rude remarks--I can see why no top pro's post here anymore--clearly this place is just full of rude people, well, 90% or so.
Thanks for all that replied with good info--
Mike -
vague--maybe
chop and split were the terms---50/50 comes to mind with such a small tourny
Oh well--
Mike -
This happened to me about a year ago and I emailed stars after villian wouldn't send my share back to me. Stars contacted the villian and asked him to honor our deal we had and he vilain complied...footnote... after all this the villian and I kept in contact agreed it was a misunderstanding and "lent" eachother money on stars back and forth for about 6 months. The final deal I gave him $300 to play in a stars event and never heard from him again..lol GG me... Gl to you
cliffnotes:
same thing happened to me
got my share from him after all
became friends
got ripped off for an extra $200 6 months later..
gg me -
In the second post you made where they honored your chop, you state the chop will be half the pool and will be awarded to each of you and you both said "I agree". That may be why they allowed it. If you would have waited for a Host, they would have made those same terms and made you say I agree exactly as you both did.
The first post you made was not as clear cut as the other and kind of vague. Be more clear next time, or just email support with URGENT and the tourney # in the subject line and arrange for both of you to sit out until the Host gets there. GL -
What is the point of this thread? You basically handed the man 1st place on a silver platter and he prolly lol'd his way to 1st. Use your head man. There is no way you have ever chopped a tournament on stars in this manner before. You should be embarrassed.
-
for starters I believe through your deal making you violated the terms of the site. you can not agree to let one side win and the other get second. You MUST play it out, it's fine if you both go all in blind until it ends but it must end as determined by the cards. If you ever watch a sunday million or any other tourney will a split, the host is always present. Both parties are told the terms of the split and then they must type "I agree". The host will also always point out that the tourney must be played out because besides money you are awarded Tourney points which can not be split. I have seen the hosts threaten punishment to the players that attempt to "fix" who wins the event.
Don't take offense from this, congrats on your good run and learn from your error. -
This possibly could be a retarded question. Why chop a 180 turbo?
-
As I said---$99 extra if someone got 2nd place--not alot for some of you, but for me, it is.
Thanks for all the info
Mike
