I've been grindin these since PS introduced them.
Great to build the bankroll and easy to muti-table.
Made well over $10,000 playing these.
However, they can be very boring at times.
Gluck if ya try these. -
definitely easy way to grind up a roll, but its only really worth the time if you play the turbos and can play at least 10-12 at a time. rake on the regulars is too high.
-
personally i see em as a huge waste of time, would rather play superturbs, was breakeven player through 2.5k of them maybe i just wasn't getting it but thought I didn't suck that bad idk.

if you were breaking even at them, i'm guessing that you're a decent player, but you probably have some leaks, otherwise you would be able to profit in them.

sometimes the smallest factors can be the difference between breaking even and making a profit. -
learning some simple ICM..creates a huge edge.... the play is frustratingly bad in these and you'll be facepalming for hours....
-
no money in DoNs everyone is solid
-
The bad beats in these are just terrible, but that's where the profit comes from. Gotta take the good with the bad. Last nite on the bubble some dude had like over 6500 chips and went on to finish 6th.

must have been tryin to boss and lost most his stack... stupid

Idk man your talking about beating the $5 DON's at 8%, while thats ok an all, as you move up in stakes they get way tougher, and IMO once you hit the 20's your looking at dam near impossible to beat for a legitimate % at least anymore. For my first 2k-3k games at the 20's I was at like 11% now if I could average 2% I'd be surprised, the really not worth it anymore at least at the higher levels. Just my thoughts.
-
I agree that they are even getting tougher at the $5 level, but if you are good you can still profit at them. Just need to play lotsa at any one time.
Played some 10's a way back but never higher.
I'm just a low stakes grinder. -
Messing with these now. They are very easy to beat really. It is all about personal discipline. I am trying to take my roll off of life support after a serious downswing. They are very fast (turbos) and basically just doubling your stack and you cash. Once you get that stack, just play position raises for 2 - 2.5 x raises and you never get played back at. If a guy is short he wants to hang on, if a guy is a big stack he will fold just because he has no reason to play. Only tourneys where middle stacks have an edge if they understand what they are doing. I see some horrible plays from guys. I had about $6K in one of these yesterday in BB with KK and SB in second with $4000 min raised and I shipped (fully expecting a fold) but he snapped with Q7 suited. Of coruse he hit, but no biggie, I cashed anyway. Just an idea of how little a lot of these guys just don't get it still.

boring but winning $$$ or exciting poker but tough to make $$$$
just a good way of building one's bankroll -
Yeah, I played a few, they can be liked, but like above poster said, extremely boring. I couldn't imagine playing a non-turbo. I will probably play 2-3 while playing 180 mans or something to bring in something different. Definitely interesting though
-
I seem to do much better in the non-turbo's.
Just play over 20 tables and it's not boring. Once the 5th level hits, it gets alot more interesting. -
Playing the non turbos is like watching paint dry..I prefer the turbo's, but hey if you got the patience and can mega table..I'd say they are a pretty good way of building a roll.
-
what kind of roi are you pulling MFT77 ?
-
If i wasn't playing so many i could probably get a higher ROI, but volume is key.
-
$10's are soft and $5's are very soft.....good way to reduce variance and make $ to pad the BR....$10's are my go to right now and have been for the last few months!
-
I think the $5 double or nothing poker tournaments are great too. I play 6 at a time and made about $300 off of them last week. If I had more time, I would be playing them way more often.
